Imagine winning every single contest you enter — be it sweepstakes competitions, buying a lottery ticket, participating in a TV game show or even buying a raffle ticket for an expensive house. How would you feel if you could “manipulate reality” to win every game you play in?
If this sounds to you like an idea from the movie “The Matrix”, you’re probably not alone.
Yet, this is the life Helene Hadsell of Alvarado, Texas leads.
I first learned about Helene when I saw a testimonial from her on the Silva Method website. I googled her name and found this blog post by Joe Vitale. Joe is a friend of hers and a teacher from the hit film, “The Secret”.
The post fascinated me. If what Joe was saying was true — then Helene has pulled off what many teachers of the Law of Attraction have said is possible, but have never actually demonstrated. Can you use the Law of Attraction in such a way that you can actually win every single time?
And we’re not talking talent shows or atheletic events. We’re talking winning in competitions that are strictly probability based. Such as raffles. You buy a ticket and if you’re lucky you win. Your looks, your brains, your talent do not contribute to your ticket being selected as the winning ticket.
Yet Helene wins these raffles. Over and over again. She won a house at the World’s Fair and her ticket was selected out of 2 million others.

Contesting, a True Story
Back in the 1980s I read a life changing book called Contesting: The Name It and Claim It Game.
It was by Helen Hadsell, billed as “the woman who wins every contest she enters.”
The book showed the practical side of metaphysics. My attract a new car program is in the same genre: the idea is to show how tools like positive belief, visualization, feeling and action lead to concrete results — like winning a contest or manifesting a new car.
Contesting was a breakthrough book for me and many others — in fact, millions of others. The book sold three million copies. A few copies are still floating around, but you’ll pay anywhere from fifty to two hundred dollars for one (unless you’re smart and read this post to the end).
What most people don’t know is the author is still with us.
I talked to her on the phone the other night.
Helen Hadsell is 83 years old and a hoot. She’s vibrant, humorous, active, a hypnotic storyteller, and still as plugged into metaphysics as anyone around. She should have been in the movie The Secret.
Movie producers are in fact considering making a film of her life. I’d love to see that happen.
Helen and I spoke for about an hour. She’s still writing. She sent me her recent autobiography, Confessions of an 83-Year-Old Sage, which I’d love to see published, and one of her lesser known books, In Contact With Other Realms: An Adventurer’s Experiences in Awareness.
She personally knew many of the great teachers of the New Thought Movement, from prolific prosperity author Joseph The Power of Your Subsconscious Mind Murphy to Silva Mind Control creator Jose Silva to the mystical founder of Eckanker, Paul Twitchell.

PS — Sometimes when you come across magical stories like this they almost sound unbelievable. It’s easy just to disregard them as false, fiction or too good to ever happen to you. But by doing so we actually just turn away from the fact that life is a much bigger mystery than we ever thought.

I am happy to hear she has won many many times… KUDOS for Helene! However when you state she wins EVERY contest… I do not believe this to be an actual fact. If this were the case. I invite Helene to buy a ticket for the next lottery and see if she wins the top prize. The lottery is a

contest. The winning top prize is the actual win… you do not say I won the lottery and then tell people you won $10. I do this all the time. (win $10) You say I won the Lottery and you actually win the top grand prize of millions of dollars. That is my thought.
If this were actually TRUE. She could enter EVERY Lottery and perhaps feed all of the starving people in the world… talk about MAJOR KARMA points there! WOAH! What a blessing that would be for humanity. I mean at 83 years of age… if she purchased a lottery ticket every week she would be the absolutely richest person on the planet… I just do not like the idea that someone can proclaim to win EVERY time. I am not negatively speaking here… I am truly optimistic and positive but the proof is in an actual study.
Let’s test it out? Pick a specific lottery and see her purchase a ticket.. document it, video tape it.. post it on YOU TUBE or on TV…have someone go with her so it is not rigged and then watch and see if she wins. Do NOT tell the Lottery company you are doing this or it could be rigged… it has to be secret.….but something where it is documented… where she can REALLY prove it.
Yes, if you enter enough contests your likely hood to win is greater than not… however, can she do it consciously, is SHE in fact doing this with CONSCIOUS desire and thought as per the SECRET.. and the LAW of ATTRACTION or is this truly a wild freak chance at winning… if there is a test… she will prove this to be true or not. I truly wish her the best of LUCK but it seems she does not need it? I mean that in a heartfelt way. In the most sincerest way I do wish her absolutely GREAT success on every level.
Would LOVE to watch her prove it on on YOU TUBE..That would be INCREDIBLE! Don’t you agree? Imagine to watch her say “I am going to win this lottery”… watch her pick the numbers or a random computer draw whatever the case and then wait for the day and VOILA! HOLY COW! That would be MIRACULOUS! Would it not? Who would not LOVE to watch that? And by all means cheer her on… maybe with 1,000,000 people watching their collective consciousness all desiring for her to win would actually MAKE her win.… how about that concept? A collective consciousness all with the intention to want and hope she wins… and she does! Very very mind blowing.. how about that for an experiment.

You have one point, she’s clearly not winning the top prize each time. But, from someone who never, ever under any circumstances at age 65 ever wins, except the day after I finished Silva Mind Basic, I’d say she’s got something to teach us.
It’s less about how much exaggeration the writers are doing in her story and more about ‘does she indeed win each and every contest she enters’ and it seems she does and that’s not statistically possible, and yet she wins.

I am still a little mind boggled at the fact that she wins EVERY time! I dont really understand that and how its possible! Recently I have been buying scratch cards almost everyday and the other day I did win $20 which i was very happy about! I must say!
But from reading this now, it makes me want to continue to buy my scratch cards and say ” I am going to win $800″ and then to look forward to scratching hoping that my $800 is revealed to me. I do believe in saying it outloud and me speaking the truth outloud and it coming true.

Maybe though Helene is a simple soul who isn’t sure it’ll work this time and prays it will and then sure enough she wins again. Each time she wins people around her say ‘no! surely you can’t have won again’, and she says ‘yes I did, amazing isn’t it’. the people say ‘how do you do it?’ and Helene says ‘well, I just hope and pray and then I do!’
I think that both Honey in Canada and Brian raise important points to consider. “Winning every contest she entered” is an amazing statement that would trigger anyone to wonder about the accuracy. I understand where you are coming from so may I offer some insight.
My name is Ken Coscia and it has been my honor to serve as a Silva trainer in Connecticut, Massachusettes and New York, since 1971 in addition to serving on Silva’s International advanced training staff. I have benefitted from these principles in my own life and have guided tens of thousands of people to do the same. I also know Helene Hadsell. She has been my guest to present workshops on a number of occasions. We have attended conferences together and discussed her work in detail.
I say all of this because there is so much more to her history in contest winning than the heading reveals. Contesting is totally different than lotteries where a random # is selected.
Contesting involves a lot of detailed work to meet the qualifications in the rules set forth by the contest organizer. Read the fine print of any contest and you’ll see what I mean. Helene did just that and then some.
She told me, at one meeting in the 70’s, that her whole family was involved in what became an almost full time venture. They would send out literally thousands of entries and were very precise in following the rules to a tee.
The above article states.….“the idea is to show how tools like positive belief, visualization, feeling and action lead to concrete results”. Action is the key. She didn’t just close her eyes, visualize and poof — a winner. She was meticulous in paying very close attention to detail and followed up with action.
I find this to be true with any worthwhile pursuit in life and especially in utilizing the Silva skills. I hope this clarifies it for you.
When I was a kid I won over 100 times on the local radio station WCOL in Columbus. People would always say…“you win all the time”. To them…I was winning all the time. In reality…I was winning about every three or four times I played. And the truth is to win in a contest, or in anything, you MUST GET INTO the game. Helen no doubt does just that. The lesson Helen’s success teaches all of us is that sometimes life is based on odds. You need to put yourself or your cause in the hopper of life. The more times YOU are in the fish bowl the greater the chances of winning. The Law of Attraction is much more effective when we actually Think, Believe and Feel like winners and then take whatever the action steps that are necessary…like filling out an entry form or sending in your resume.
As a radio air personality we have what some call “prize hogs”. They win not because they are “lucky”…but because they INVEST their time in listening to our stations and paying attention to our promotions then calling in when prompted. The fact is only 2 to 5% of a radio station’s audience participates in contesting. So…you only have to be THE ONE of a FEW who do play. But the key is TO PLAY. ACT. BELIEVE.
The “rich” GET IN THE GAME. And they KNOW theya re not going to “win” everytime but they increase the odds of success by getting a spot at the table of life. Unfortunatly…most people don’t get off their couch.

It happened here in Australia about five or maybe 10 years ago now, a man won $50,000 on a scratchy and the media interviewed him and took him to the lotery place where he bought the scratchy and I could not believe what happened next caught on TV. The guy was demonstrating what he did that day, ” well I bought the scrachy and came over here on the table and started scratching,” he stopped and said, ” oh may God,” and showed the new ticket to the camera. He actually won another $25,000. Whats the odds on that mate.

I guess the issue here is the fact that Helene did things in an organised and concise way which obviously optimised her chances every time she entered a competition.
We generally do things in a very ad hoc way, we decide to enter a competition on a whim and don’t do much (if any) research into what the people who set the competition are looking for and require to even stand a small chance of winning. We then say the Law of Attraction doesn’t work when in fact we haven’t taken the necessary action required to attain the outcome we desire.
I don’t believe the Law of Attraction can stand a chance of working unless we understand the basics of HOW it works.
It is not just random wishes and grand desires. It IS entering fully into the desire with all our senses, feeling the joy of what it will feel like when achieved, seeing in your mind the camera flashes at the reception when you win and smelling the food that will be there. Using all the information available to optimise our results and using a kind of meditative thought process which allows us to see it as complete (often called faith in the Bible) before it actually is complete. No doubt should be present and then we can just let it go (which means stop watching and waiting as this implies we don’t think it’s actually going to happen) until it appears in our life.
It sounds like Helene actually lived this life even before we had even heard of it or thought about it and tried and then practised until she found it working.

I have been in a sweepstakes for almost 1 year and I am now in the top 3% category to win. I have been affirming that I will be the grand prize winner for $600,000.00. I believe it like I believe the sun will rise tomorrow. You have to want it with all your heart, and I truly believe that is what Helen has done each and every time, she truly believed it every single time. It is all about positive belief.
Saying I know, without ANY doubt, puts you in another realm in which faith takes over and controls the eventual outcome of your desires. Mastering life in this way is pleasing to God, in whose image we are made, and through His LOVE gifts are offered to those who TRULY believe. Stewardship is then our responsibility to what has been entrusted to us. We own nothing, but control everything through FAITH.

I believe when we become specific in what we want (clear) and put the inspired actions to it, it will happen. I have used Silva method since early 90’s, but have found that if I am not clear and specific on my intentions and what I want, there will be things out of place or not happening. And sometimes it might take awhile before it happens.
There are so much about life and universe that we are still learning and finding out — a fantastic journey that I am grateful to be a part of.

Helen is an exemplar of mental discipline and strong desire, belief and expectancy, all spiritual entities that demonstrate a person who not only understood the depth of Jose Silva’s method, and knew what she “desired” but she attracted it in her life. It is not about winning every contest; if you read her book you will know that she was very selective in what to win, specific, detailed and well organized on the left brain and extremely disciplined, creative and intuitive on the right brain, demonstrating whole brain functioning as taught in the original Basic Lecture Series (BLS-4) Seminar. And then she practiced everything she learned to the point that she directed not only when to win, but what to win. She freed her self from “wanting” and she was “desiring, believing and expecting!” Of course this discipline was primarily mental followed by action while her vision manifested in the world of physics. Her intuition was so highly developed, to the point of knowing that the phone was ringing to announce that she won. There were times that she had to rash things in order to be at home the time when the phone would ring, announcing her as the winner. Had she not answered the phone, she would loose the price. That takes lots of faith (desire, belief and expectancy), mental discipline and practice.

I believe one hundred percent that this fantastique minded lady has won often enough to be held in thoughts as one
who wins all the time. You’re either a winner or a losser.
She clearly is a WINNER and no matter how you look at it,
a looser is one who doubts and his comments will be that
of disbelief. Its a mindset alright and if you are on, there
is no way you are going to loose. I am still trying to be like her. I notice quite clearly that when I have such a positive mindset, I undoubtedly win and I go much further,
I forcast my win by telling my friends that I will win. In
my weaker moments, when I am carrying the world on my shoulders. My consentration is not half where it should be
then I am not in full focus, then I do not win and I dare not
say anything about my participation. The law of attraction
does work and with the help of Ms Dawson I am aiming at creater focus in my meditation and do you know what I will
write to you when I do my next win. As soon as my focus gets back on track, which is soon. I will be winning again. That

suggest to people who respond negatively to truths that to

Inspire us to better our selves. Better our intuition and eventually help others. The ‘scientific’ approach to verify repeatability as suggested by Honey in Canada is good but is also a way of showing scepticism.
And in an oblique manner sort of mistrusting what could have been a seed of inspiration for many who could learn from the lucky 88 year old Helene Hadsell.
We you really ‘get it’ you realise that it is such luck deflecting thinking that drives away lady luck.
So I have a suggestion here please. Don’t try to kill the joy of Helene by putting her through experiments or even thinking about how this is possible.
The only useful experiment to try will be to try and ‘get it’ and do the experiment on oneself. That is the ‘Secret’ behind the Silva method or what ever Joe Vitale talks about

Another poster brought up an important distinction–a contest is not the same as a sweepstakes, and a sweepstakes is not the same as a lottery or a contest. Different animals, all of them. Helen usually won a sweepstakes or a contest, and I don’t recall anything in the book about her winning lotteries. Just so we’re straight on what games she won.

Helen story is not that unique. The ones that got it right or the ones that said that Helen did the right things that it took to win. First if you want to win you have to go and do what has to be done to win. My wife and I enter contest just like Helen does. First of all we do not win all of the time but we do win a lot of the times. Just like Helen if you do not follow the instructions to the letter and that means taking the time to read all of the OFFICIAL RULES you are not going to win. Second we only enter contest that my WIFE has a very good feeling about when she happens to see a contest. When we start entering we take the time to pray over the enteries. We Give thanks to God for winning. We say we accept the winnings. And we claim the winnings. Then during the contest period we visulize winning the Grand Prize. Now do we win all of the time NO. Do win a lot of the time YES. And winning is FUN. Playing the Game is FUN. But paying the IRS for your winnings can get you down!!! So the question is does HELEN WIN EVER TIME NO WAY. But the real answer to all of this is that if you want to win you got to get up and try to win and while you are trying to win it is best to put as many of the odds in your favor that you can. And if seeing us win and asking GOD to help win so be it. All I can say is bring on the IRS because my wife and I are going to keep winning. For those of you that are wondering, no I am not going to say what I payed the IRS last year in winnings but I will tell you this, our postive attitude and seeing us as winners put me in another TAX bracket.

Helen did win from 3 million people in one contest, so she has chieved the Holy Grail of magnetic positivity, based on Yeshua (also known as Jesus) who told us that humans who truly believed would be able to do (all that he had done and more) if we only believe it is possible.
If you go through the dictionary, and destroy all the negative words, you will have removed every doubt from your mind. Abundance is limitless, and Quantum Physicists will tell you that the universe is growing bigger every second, and the speed of it getting bigger is actually speeding up in recent years — its called “world without end”.
I can drive on a tractor in heavy rain and not need a rain coat to keep dry.
I pre-order a car park in a specific spot and it is always there for me when I arrive at my destination 100% of the time.
Our conscious mind processes only 5–7 pieces of information per second, so it is easy for us to be hypnotised by someone speaking at a faster speed. We listen to the interesting bits and the other (hypnotic stuff) hypnotises us to obey.
By shutting off the beta brainwaves completely, it is easy to programme your mind for outstanding success. Keep your mind in alpha/theta at no more than 7–12 brain cycles per second.
Beta/gamma brainwaves at 20–80 cycles per second cause so many thoughts to flash through your mind that it is impossible to create clarity and enthusiasm to win.
Closing your eyes to pray in church turns off half the beta brainwaves, which is not enough. Go fishing and tune out the whole world in meditation or by brainwave entrainment.

I think “winning” is a subjective thought. Winning every time is perhaps possible, however the way someone wins may not be what most people might commonly consider to be winning. The important thing is for each person to arrive at their own conclusion of what winning something means to them.
Is the glass half-full or half-empty? Is a snake a beautiful creature or a frightening monster? Is losing something a good thing or a bad thing? Is minimalism a higher level of living than materialism?
My guess is Helene Hadsell is a person who, in her mind and therefore experience, is someone who wins every contest she’s ever entered. And, I would agree. Perhaps, more of us should rethink what winning really is and is not? Dan– Orlando, FL
Re: Honey in Canada’s comment about Lotteries being contests. Technically you’re putting out money to buy a chance of winning.
If you win the lottery, you’ve won. There are no skill-testing questions required to pick up your cheque.
If you enter a sweeps style contest, then there’s often a timed, skill-testing question to be answered correctly before being declared a winner. Often a sweeps-style contest do not require a cash outlay. They’re free to enter — just your time & ingenuity (depending on the rules/regs) is all that’s required.
I win “sweeps” contests frequently enough. On occasion, I’ll buy a lottery ticket if the prize is big. (Haven’t had my numbers come up on one of those as yet, but I will)!
So don’t confuse them — lotteries usually require that the entrant spends $$ for a chance; Sweeps-style contests don’t.
