The Worst of Times, or… The Best of Times?

by Arjuna Ardagh

Arjuna Ardagh

If you’ve watched the television news in the last few months, or listened to the radio, or been on the internet, or looked at a magazine… or even just talked to well… anybody, you must be aware that the general consensus is that this is a time of unprecedented challenge and transition. Economically, that often gets focused onto the United States, but actually in the wider implications, the transition that we are passing through is global.

Editors note: This is already the second article written exclusively for FinerMinds by Arjuna Ardagh, an awakening coach, writer, teacher, public speaker and founder of the Living Essence Foundation. In the end of the article you can find your access to the special gifts from Arjuna Ardagh.

I’m sure you don’t need me to spell out what that means. Whether we focus on sinking into a global recession--or even depression--or global warming, or peak oil, or the many unresolved political conflicts around the world: whatever parameter you choose to focus on, many people feel today fear that we are sitting on a bus heading over the edge of a cliff. Depressing, isn’t it?

Suppose for a moment that your house develops severe dry rot in the basement. The contractor comes, takes a look and says, “Sorry, there’s nothing I can do. It’s too far gone. Better to tear the place down.” This would be inconvenient, but not the end of the world. Now suppose that it was your neighborhood gone to seed, taken over by… what? Lawyers? Communists? White supremacists? Doesn’t matter. If you don’t like the area where you’re living you can always move to another part of town. Now what about if it was your city, or your state, or even the country? There’s always an alternative. You could move to Phoenix, or Alaska, or even Mexico or Europe. Bali is very nice, too.

But what about if it’s our planet in jeopardy? That is a whole different situation, because as far as most of us know, we don’t have any alternative. Some people claim to have had communication with the Pleiadees or life on Mars, but for the average Joe like you and me, this is it. This is home. Every memory we have is of life on earth, and every aspiration, too. When the balance of life on this planet is jeopardized, it’s quite natural to feel a little queasy.

On the surface it seems that every problem we face: environmental, political, economic is separate and disconnected from every other. The only thing they all have in common is that we don’t really know what to do. But look a little deeper. Every predicament we face; personally, in our family or community, and even globally, does have one thing in common. Us.

A few decades ago Albert Einstein said a wonderful thing. He said,

“You cannot solve any problem in the same state of consciousness in which it was created.”

You know this already, don’t you? Have you ever experienced that you go to bed one night having a fight with your partner, or a friend, and you absolutely know that you’re right and the other is wrong, and it seems like a war without end? And then you have a good night’s sleep, and perhaps you wake up and do a little yoga or take a walk, and the problem never gets solved. It is dissolved. You feel different in yourself. You see the other with fresh eyes and the love that binds you becomes stronger than the disagreement that separated you. You’ve just experienced a shift of consciousness. When we shift our state of consciousness, the problems that seemed real in one state disappear in another state. They don’t get solved, they get dissolved.

 alt=

Just as from one perspective it seems like we’re faced with insurmountable global problems, so something else is also happening today, just under the radar, which is affecting millions of people. I gave you a hint of what that is all about two weeks ago in the article I shared with you about Dave [February 16, 2009]. Dave didn’t solve his problems. He shifted his consciousness and saw things in a totally different way, and his life reorganized itself around his new state of consciousness. Many people today feel this is happening to us collectively. And I’m not talking only about new age spiritual woo-woo people wearing Birkenstocks, eating granola and wanting to hug. I mean that well recognized think-tanks advising governments and big business are recognizing that there is a significant shift in collective consciousness. Roger Nelson, until recently a professor at Princeton, has even attempted to find ways to measure collective consciousness scientifically. This shift happening just under the radar is often referred to as “awakening.” It starts when an individual expands beyond preoccupation with “me” and recognizes themselves to be something much greater, deeper, more mysterious. When many people shift in this way, in a community or a company or a church, or even in the country, we can begin to also speak of “collective awakening.” My 2005 book “The Translucent Revolution” documents how this kind of shift is impacting both individuals as well as organizations and communities.

All of this is happening somewhat out of our control. There’s not much that you and I can do about the fact that old structures are crumbling apart--giving some people the feeling that the sky is falling. And there’s not much that you and I can do about collective awakening. It’s happening now on a vast scale. What is important for you and me is how we ’re going to relate to all this. Many people today sense that next few years will be a time of unprecedented change for humanity. Looked at from one perspective, it may seem like Armageddon, and from another it may feel like our wildest dreams are coming true. The difference is in your state of consciousness.

What is actually happening?

In order to understand what is happening for all of us, it’s useful to recognize a phenomenon that occurs in recovery from addiction called “bottoming out.” Perhaps you know someone who has been an addict and then entered into recovery. Maybe you’ve even experienced that process yourself. When someone is fully immersed in an addiction, they generally don’t even know they have a problem, and if someone tries to point it out they tend to argue. It’s called denial. I had some friends a few years ago who went through this process as a family. Jim used to stop at the bar for a drink or two after work and then come home. Susan thought nothing of it. But over a few months he came home later and later, smelling of alcohol. His temper became more volatile. If anyone questioned him about the drinking he became defensive. The kids, four and six at the time, started to become afraid of their father. When he came home one night and woke everyone up, Sue tried to reason with him, and he hit her. That was the final straw. She moved out the next week with the kids back to Michigan, and from there you know the rest of the story. Things spiraled down. He got into arguments at work and then he lost his job. He maxed out his credit cards. When he got too behind on the mortgage payments he lost his house, too. And he went on drinking. Finally, he ended up in hospital with a liver disease.

From Jim’s perspective things couldn’t get any worse. But from the perspective of anyone familiar with addiction, for the first time Jim was really ready to face himself. He got out of the hospital, joined a twelve step program, stopped drinking, and within months he turned his life around. Now Jim and Sue are back together, and he has become a support to hundreds of other people to recover from addiction. The way that Jim tells it is that he didn’t have to descend all the way down into the darkness and then climb all the way up the other side. He slipped down into the lowest point and then passed through a quantum shift. He flipped out of one reality and into another.

You could say that the process that we are in together today is very much like that: a collective bottoming out. If you’re very attached to business as usual, this could seem like the end of everything. Many well-respected commentators like Lynn Twist, Barbara Marx-Hubbard and Peter Russell recognize that over the last few years humanity, particularly the US, has been on a binge. Like Jim, we’ve been spending more than we earn, and of course most of us have been in massive denial. If you feel attached to the way that things have been, this next phase may be difficult. If, on the other hand, you’re open to a whole new paradigm, this can be marvelous. Wonderful. Liberating. The pivotal difference is in how we manage consciousness.

I am an awakening coach. That’s what I do. I support people to pass through the shift in consciousness from being contracted down into the story of a “me,” to the expansiveness of knowing yourself to be vast, silent, at peace, and not separate at all. I train other people to become awakening coaches, and to facilitate this shift. Here is some great news: these days waking up can be incredibly easy. You don’t have to change your beliefs or your diet or your lifestyle. You simply need to be willing to ask yourself some simple and fundamental questions and to be deeply honest with yourself.

Here are five simple keys for what you need to be able to pass through the collective shift with comfort and ease:

  • Discover ways to be fully present: to shift your attention fully to what you’re experiencing in this moment.
  • Learn to distrust your mind. Find ways to recognize the messages that your mind is giving you and then not to change negative messages into positive ones, but to free yourself from the limits of thinking all together.
  • Transform your relationship from other people and the environment from one of getting to one of giving. Focus more on how much you love than how much you are loved.
  • Find the right practices that work for you on a day-to-day basis to neutralize the habits that create feeling separate. Practices need to be tailor-made. It’s not one size fits all.
  • Simplify your life. Find a way to discover what is really meaningful and fulfilling to you and what is just distraction. Let your life become a work of art.

I want to thank you so much for your generous responses to my last article and I look forward to getting to know you better. I’ve prepared 6 downloads from my "Leap Before You Look" book and CD for you to explore this at home. If you’d like to enjoy them, I’ll explain more on the attached video.

Such wonderful gentle explanations for such a profound subject, very awakening just in the first reading!

very interesting perspective! i have found that in my own business, i have become much more CREATIVE because of the challenges we are facing. ideas are appearing out of thin air--marketing ideas, design ideas, product ideas...and the trick is to choose which one to focus upon. i have a feeling that i am not alone--when the going gets tough, the tough get creative!

Great article. From the vantage-point of a new or fresh perspective, there isn't a problem or issue that can't be solved, resolved or dissolved, or at least so greatly improved upon that a solution is evident.

The best fertilizer comes from what most people think is worthless waste.

Robert Pettifer, thanks for your encouragement. Lets stay connected!

sara baldwin: yes, you ARE creative!! I took a peak at your website already. Your creativity is what I call "translucence," it comes not from a fixed place but it flows through you. It is very true that this is happening to many people: millions!
Lets stay connected!

Bryan Howard: so true! Everything of value these days is arising out of shifts in consciousness, which, from a purely materialistis perspective, is nothing at all!

Keep in touch, Bryan...

Hi Arjuna!

Very thought provoking article. Thank you for this! I understand and agree with all of the five keys you suggest to complete the collective shift except the second one. Do you mean that we have to stop being individuals to be part of the Universe? I find it hard to comprehend how we could seperate completely from our individuality. Can't we live communally and still be distinct individuals?

I'm going through deep changes as described in your article.

Even more, I came to realize that human kind doesn't have a problem with technology nor resources, since basically there is enough for most of us to live decently.

I truly believe that we most likely have a problem in establishing good relationships, trusting each other, feeling not understood or threatened by others. If we take a deeper look, we will find out that basically all of these problems are based on one thing: LEVELS OF IGNORANCE in human conscience.
And I use here the word IGNORANCE to describe the lack of wisdom and personal skills to get positive and satisfactory results in life.

My humble opinion is that 90% of the world population is just barely making it to survive, because they accept to live within an ECONOMIC SYSTEM that basically:

a) Creates the conditions for being an slave of the money,

b) Supports compulsive consumer habits based on what people WANT and overriding what is NEEDED for the majority of the population.

c) Advertising and Media communicating strategies that triggers emotions on consumers to produce more consume.

d) Limited access to healthy food (Organic should be the rule)

e) More importance to JUSTICE and WAR, than EDUCATION and SHARING with others.

f) The system rewards with MONEY (right to access the abundance) to those who become experts in managing resources in a way that benefits more to very few, and then these individuals do WHATEVER THEY WANT with those resources, instead of using them for a deeper purpose like helping others to grow and get better education to create more abundance and harmony in the world.

I'm totally convinced that a huge SHIFT in conscience is happening right now since this economic system is crashing, and people are re-thinking ways to go ahead with their lives.

Actually I applause what you said about not SOLVING the problem, but DISSOLVING it....

The ANSWER is within our own capability of making things happen and sharing our positive results and excess of abundance with many others that might share theirs with us.

We just need a NEW SOCIAL AGREEMENT and an EFFECTIVE TOOL to make it work smooth and effective.

Continuing with a WAR POLICY will just make it even worst for everybody on this planet, and only will keep the benefit for those who decided to LOVE THE POWER instead of using THE POWER OF LOVE.

Thanks

Jacqueline Michaud: thanks for the comment

Do you mean to learn to distrust the mind?

What it means is to learn to use the mind, but not to be used by the mind. Big difference. Generally our minds are running randomly and cause us all kinds of distress. Did you know that in the US a full 25% of the population is being treated for some kind of mental illness?

To learn to distrust the mind means to get a distance from our thoughts: to see that the thoughts are always changing, and they are not fundamentally reliable. If you can get a little distance, then who are you? You find you are spacious, at ease.

You say: "I find it hard to comprehend how we could seperate completely from our individuality. Can’t we live communally and still be distinct individuals?" I am with you here. I live with my wife and two sons, and I am connected to many people in many ways. When we relate only from mind to mind it creates separation. When we discover how we can meet deeper than mind we find love. It is love that allows us to be both at one and also distinct individuals. It is this real and deep love than heals a relationship, a family, a community, and that will heal our world

Santiago Buraye:

Yeah! I am with you brother, all the way!

Thing is that all you say is right on and true, but to change a forest you have to know how to change trees, one at a time

What is needed now is for you and me, and him and her and everyone we know to deeply question and confront the thought patterns that have dominated our lives.
You talk about advertising and the economic system: thing is that such a system only works if people feel disconnected from themselves. Then there is the sense of something missing, and they want more and more and more from outside. We change the world by changing who we know ourselves to be. Please check out the video on the next page, try the practices I have provided as gifts, and let me know how it goes!

all the best to you

the 5 keys, arjun, are amazing.
they have given me some concrete material to reflect, and a direction to move along.
and they are amazing to me bcoz they have come to me at a time when i was tired and frustrated trying to find a practice routine - sadhana, if you will - that would help me stop fighting and start seeing.
:)
i found the article created a wonderful context to bring out the richness of the 5 keys.
thank you arjun.

what I am going to write Arjuna Ardagh you may agree. Our minds that in which our creator gave us has the capacity to hate or to love based on what one is thinking in the moment.Let me give you an example. You get on a bus you sit down next to someone you look at them and two things happen in that moment. One the man thinks why is she or he looking at me what do they want (fear) or If you smile at that person you sense there calmness with that person. But our first reaction is (fear based)Why? Because we are afraid to get hurt. We are afraid that we will not one measure up or we act better than the next person .And because we are trying to be better then the next guy or girl (ego) I and you and everyone in the universe
chinese , black, white, spanish, muslim, tall or small disabled or not disabled different or not different we all and I mean all of us have all these things in common. The capitity to Love or Hate,(good or bad) Honesty or dishonesty, selflessness or selfishness, dignity or perverseness, respect or disrepect, truth or lies,
self will (gods will ) choices to either do any of these things to our neighbours, family, friends, people of etnic race girl or guy.Our universe is spiritually sick because we (ego) is trying to be better than the other instead of just accepting who you are within yourself there is no judgement although we have the capitity to judge I am that I am we are in the image of the spirit. We were created in its image it feels the same that we are it has given us the capitity to do the same as it. We feel fearfull that we are not good enough or some of us feel we are better than the rest so inferority or superiority complexes. What each person doesn't realize is that we are all of us special unique and wonderfully made.We are not greater than the other or lesser than the other we are what we are all of us are the children of the spirit. and the the truth is we are all the same we come all of us from the divine source we call the spirit. God is a spirit worship (it )him (her) in spirit and truth. We are and will always be trying to run the show.Until man and woman and children realize that we as a human race cannot run this world but we need to let the spirit of the universe guide us and listen to its him or her voice because it is speaking loud to the nations and tribes and people all over the world (worldwide) but man woman and child are not listening. Some are but the majority are not because they like you said are not awakened to this fact. They are still sleeping I would say a great deal of them are still sleeping Worldwide.they are to caught up in there competitive (egos) or there defeating complexities. We would all be rich and living good lives each and everyone of us if we stop being greedy and hoarding and power tripping the spirit gave us plenty of resources to live on the planet. We could live here for eternity if we stopped ruining the earth with technology and science and war and the black side of things. The egoic side the dark side.If we loved more and more and more and help one another and humbled to each other and spoke the truth to one another and cared for one another be what ever color or crede or nationality and we stop the greed and the egoic factor we would all be much better and much happier.Man does not need a lot to be content.Man woman and children need to be more loving to each other. We need to stop thinking of only ourselves and our little lives that is the selfish part of us. Go help a sick person or an old person or a child and the feeling of joy is unspeakable. The smile on another. Love your neightbour as yourself if you don't love yourself how are you to give to another that in which you yourself do not posess We are to busy judging one another to really take a good look at our selves Are creator is love it is in us to love but so is the other hate. When the heavens and the earth were created it told them to obey but they didn't listen the first human pair so everyone now is suffering. Because we do not listen to the good side we much rather listen to the hateful side. (Starving children and mothers and fathers)selfishness and greed Sickness and stress) power hungry men But one day in a moment we will all of us see what we truly are.spirits in this world. That is our voice in our heads the voice we constantly hear that is our true nature our spirit. Our guide and our light to the spirit each one of us has it it is in all of us everyone of us has it and everyone has a choice to love or hate have false pride or choose humility deny or to embrace who we truely are divinity. The voice within ourselves our voice in our heads. Our true nature spirits of the loving god.If we choose it.Oh yes each point in our lives are lived moment to moment and we have to be truely present in that moment to enjoy. Our (ego) wants us to travel to other places in our minds that voice inside our heads tell us to think of something other then the moment we are living in right now it hates the moment it does not want us to be there. We are usually thinking about the past or thinking about the future but we are always never thinking about the right here and now.
Take a moment right now and feel the where you are present reading what I am writing enjoy.

It is hard to believe that 10 years ago- to this week exactly-I first met Arjuna in person. 10 years! So much time and change has passed... and yet.... I have no words to express my gratitude. Thank you, from the heart.

Gravatar image Mengz A. Estolano says 8 months, 3 weeks ago

Dear Arjuna,

I love your article "Worst Times...or Best Times!" Yes, it is truly true that whatever we focus on it becomes a reality. If in our consciousness we only trigger the negative signs of the times and focus on them, the result of which is of course negative feelings and consequences. Is that we really want to happen? I don't think so. Therefore, why focus on what we don't want to happen (the worst times) rather than on what we want to experience (the good times).

And let our collective awakening burst into collective positive energy to transform our times into good!

Cheers,

Mengz

Sensible... simple for anyone to practice.

To sense and become aware helps one to relax and face reality, dissolve in the reality, through this simple experiential means.

Hi Arjuna

Thank you for your deep contribution to the experience of 'peace through the transition'. Your expression, as always, carries a power beyond the words.

One of the ways I see that recent economic events are supporting the shift in human consciousness, is that it is causing many to naturally slow down, which invokes a greater degree of Stillness in their lives.

Stillness is a power in itself, which automatically brings a vaster awareness and facilitates the very 'dissolving' you are speaking of.

As the question of loss of identity has arisen a lot in Satsang lately, I would also love to affirm your comments to Jacqueline. A wave that awakens to the realisation that its True Nature is Ocean does not cease to exist as a wave. Rather, its wave-ness is enhanced by its experience in a vaster context.

Awakening, at this time, is not the erosion of our individuality; rather it is the erosion of the exclusivity of the individual perspective.

So, thank you again Arjuna for your inspiring article and the gift of all your expressions.

Love & Blessings

Joel

It is so true that when you shift your way of being, problems, obstacles, broken relationship don’t get solved, they get dissolved. What a wonderful way to put it. We are all in this together and the state of the world makes that abundantly clear.

Gravatar image Bill says 8 months, 3 weeks ago

I have read all of the quote "awakening" coaches comments including yours and none of them make any sense whatsoever. I am in commercial real estate and I have not had a contract colose in over four months which is not common for me. With the economy in the shape it is in I feel over whelmed by the market and don't know where my next deal will come or when. I try to get grounded by reading all you "awakening" coaches offer and it does not help. I think you just get rich by selling your books and tapes, which would break a rich man if he bought all there is to offer.

Gravatar image Kitty says 8 months, 3 weeks ago

Thanking you again. Thank you for making us question. Your being sheds light.

Gravatar image Frank Parmir says 8 months, 3 weeks ago

It is not "we" who awaken. It is The All, The Unified Universe, God, who wakens "us". "We" are just that which knows the stories "our" minds are weaving to explain themselves to themselves. This narative creation is an entirely automatic process. Reality is simply unfolding itself. "I" am this sensation that is occurring just now. But the sensation is not "doing" anything. It just is.

There is no problem to solve nor any "one" to solve it. The All, The Coherent Singularity that is The Real is simply doing what it is doing. This sense we have of being separately aware is merely what It is doing. There is no separate "me" creating "my" awareness. I "am" THIS.

But if "I" go on sleeping, that will be OK too. It will be what The All is doing. And if it is not OK. If "I" suffer and commit egoistic crimes. The "being not OK" will also be OK.

There is nothing to loose and no "one" to loose anything. There is nothing to "do" and no "one" to "do" anything. There is no one to coach and no one to be coached.

Thanks so much for your article. I have The Translucent Revolution beside my bed and continue to reread sections when I find my mind is whispering nonsense to me again. Many years ago I had my transformational awakening and have been watching the process ever since. I thought that if there was a process to be happy as a human it must be something simple, something that anyone could find if they looked. What kind of a creator would make it difficult?

Over these years I learned to let things go. I didn’t do this by getting rid of fears, emotions or frantic thoughts, I simply learned to see them, let them pass through me and let them go. If I couldn’t let them go right away, I just had to accept that I still had them with me but that eventually I would be able to let them go. They would come back many times but with less intensity and then one day I would realize that they were gone.

These truly difficult times are bringing me shadowy flashbacks but they serve to remind me that we are all in this together and so many of the rest of us on this planet are still fighting these fears. It helps me to find a place of love for all who fear – even the greedy people who got us here. Who they are is in all of us. They are acting out of the same fears I have but they are grasping so hard it must be painful. Your book Translucent Revolution was important to me because it put into words my process over the past 35 years. Its nice to know that there are so many people now who are present and aware of what we are going through and the exciting new Planet we will create. Thank you.

My mother told me when I was 6, about 50 years ago, that we would go through a consciousness shift and the world would change in our lifetimes. We always called it "the change" and our family has grown up wondering and waiting to see if it would come true. I believe I see a big light of change at the end of the long tunnel of darkness. I am so looking forward to it. I've been going through an awareness shift for years, very slowly, yet surely. When I read your essay in "The Mystery of 2012," it led me to your book "The Translucent Revolution." It sent my awareness shift into overdrive. I don't know whether 'my mind' has become much nicer or whether the negative, judgmental, self-righteous voice has dissolved. Doesn't matter as I am so at peace and content and in the flow most of the time. Thank you for the work you're doing bringing us all together and explaining everything so well. It is people like you that prove to me, that my mother was right!

Hi Arjuna, good article. I recognize the shift as well in my healing practice in that many are now calling me with long held emotional and psychological issues, and not just symptoms of pain. The seed thought here is that there is a greater "mind" than the ego-mind" and it is the feeling "mind or the "Body mind". This "body Mind is literally a separate communication system which expands and allows a shift in consciousness to occur instantly in dramatic ways. It is indeed a very exciting time as it appears the shift is taking place on not only the conscious mind level but also the subconscious mind level which is the level of the "body as a mind. Blessings, Lawrence

Arjuna,
I continue to 'fall in love' with you (again) each time I read/listen to your view of our world and the 'state of affairs' we have currently created. Your ability to access the situation clearly and offer alternative solutions, all done with much humor, truly allow me to relax, apply the offerings, re-member my true nature and trust that my life is unfolding in Divine Order as is this planet! This opportunity to 'awaken' to my highest good/God and give/receive all that is mine to share and Live Heaven here/now is my greatest JOY and gift.
Blessings to YOU.....and keep up the good work (love in action)!! I am inspired and uplifted even more.

Your comment really touched me, and I hope that you will make it back to the site to read my response

I am really sorry that you have been hit so hard in your real estate business. I can imagine that this is hard for you, and maybe brings feelings of despair.

I have worked with many many professionals like yourself over the last months to help them adapt to the changing economy. This thing is that when we are in a very rapidly changing environment, it is the most stressful thing there can be for us. The knee jerk reaction is to become tense, which makes our feelings and thinking more rigid. And this, of course, makes it harder to think outside of the box and adapt. The solution is to know how to manage consciousness, how to become flexible and adaptable even in stressful time.

I hear that you are concerned that all this talk of awakening is just a scam to make money. And I am sure that you must have had some experiences in the past to give you that feeling. But look, bill, I am offering you some gifts here for you to try for free! There is a link above, it says "Click Here to Access Gifts from Arjuna Ardagh." It will lead you to six free gifts for you to try at home. No commitment, nothing. So try it out, see if anything shifts in how you feel, and stay in touch.

This is a great article. I was laid off September 08 from a 30 year career without retirement and no savings. I was told by a head hunter that there is nothing in my field, advertising, and I should look into an entrepreneur venture of some sort. Everyday I wake up and ask God to reveal to me the opportunity that I know exist in these times. Many things are being revealed to me and even though I do not know where my money will come from for my mortgage in a few months, I know it will come. Articles like this just solidify my believe and I'm excited about this new awakening. P.S. I'm also a sober alcholic of 18 years so I've experienced an awakening in the early 90's. One of my favorite sayings is 'More will be revealed.

hope to meet you soon...

Terri:

great to hear your story. I am so sorry about your job, yet at the same time glad to hear of your optimism and faith in better times ahead.

There are some industries that are thriving right now. Health care is one. Green technology is another. And another is anything that can genuinely support people to shift their experience of who they are and what reality is. Not positive thinking, affirmation kind of stuff, but real deep shift of perspective.

You will find a way to be of service and to be rewarded also. The tone of your comment makes it so.

Thanks for your wonderful article. It resonated within me. My awakening has come slowly over the last 5 years but it seemed to accellerate when I left my corporate job and decided to retire "early". I don't know why I decided to come and live in Mexico, other than the very pleasant weather and the lower cost of living, but once here, I connected with children in a local orphanage. What a joy!! These children are so wonderful to be around and anything I can give to them or share with them seems to now be my path. The economic disaster has certainly impacted my finances, but I have a sense that I will be alright and not to worry. My level of competitiveness has gone, problems don't seem to materialize anymore and I have such a sense of well-being. I had to wait a long time to get onto this path but it was well worth waiting for.

I just want to thank Arjuna for taking the time to actually personally respond to the comments left by his readers. It's wonderful to see a teacher invest such time in attention in responding to his readers.

Vishen: thank you for your thanks. This is what I live and die for, this is not just a job or being a teacher, it is way of life. So it is I who has thanks for you to give me the opportunity to share what I love.

All wind in the sails of all you do!

Thank you, this was beautiful and inspiring to read, especially the lines distrust the mind and focus on what you love, this IS the awakening - I felt my heart open when I read those words xxxx

Yeah i was really surprised to see Arjuna say that he would respond to each person who commented. I thought, "what kind of awakening coach has time for such a thing?"

i am touched to see the follow through.

I've yet to look at or try the free gifts, but will, and hope they will help me make some much needed adjustments.

I attend an Eckhart Tolle group from time to time, the host of which commended "Translucent Revolution." My serendipitous encounter of you here Arjuna, seems to be pointing me toward it again.

Thanks for the encouraging article.

I am positive at my work and do well about my kids. But my husband thinking of a lady in his mind, is creating problems to me. How do I go about this?

Regarding Eistein message: the issue is whether one is in a state of conciousness or not - ultimately the use of our mental capacity is to disificers, analyzes a situation in seach for an answer. The mind our brain is program to assimilate all of lifes experiences whether good or bad to draw a conclusion. Within each one of us are the answers complete stuctured and organized one must allow this purpose to result for peace and tranquillity

Hi,
I like your comments. But I have a question. When we are facing with a non logic or sensible man who just thinks about himself and himself and doesn't accept any logic suggestions. How we could say we solve or disolve our problem. Iam wondering to what to do? I wish to find a way not to think to my problems and forget them.

Very nice. Thank you. Beautiful insight. Being able to differentiate between distractions and things of importance is quiet a lot to learn. I really like this article, it has helped me to think more deeply. Thanks again for helping to make my day.

Hi Arjuna,
Your free demos are excellent and they potentially bring a change positively and when practiced will ultimately let people achieve their respective goals successfully and more importantly changes a person the way God wants their children to be.
I have one question which i wanted to eagerly discuss and get solution from you that over a period of i am developing that whenever i practise meditation and also the awakening procedure which you have told, sometimes unwantedly many negative thoughts will arise counter acting it and makes me very unhappy.(they arise in such a way that when i think now i am doing meditation and your practices i will be away from thinging any negative thought, i think like that and meanwhile some negative force, automatically brings some negative thing in mind parallely when positive things are going on ) i know if i do it regulary i will over come these thoughts, but they are present in the subconscious mind and pop up all of suden, and makes rest of the my meditation time or when i pracice awakening , it disturbs me and sometimes they overpower too causing unhappy , but after sometime i get again a fresh positive way to elimminate them and i feel good that time , and keeps practising it. I thought i will discuss about this and if you have any suggestions for me . i will be highly thankful. Looking forward for your reply. Best wishes ,Krishna.

Hi Arjuna,

I deeply respect you for answering the responses to your article.
A while ago now I had what you would call a peak experience which showed me how I was giving my power away by thinking I was a victim. What happened was that suddenly a discontinuity occured and a gap appeared and in this split second I `saw` that without doubt I was not who I thought I was, I was not limited, and much more than I thought I was. It was me who had placed limits on myself. I had identified with my thinking and thought `I think therefore I am`. What a shattering moment but also what a liberation.
I saw that I had been living in a thought form which was restrictive and had kind of imprisoned me, but which I had thought was true.
I also saw I had been livinging a polarity of strong/weak and my ego thought I of course was right when I saw certain people as weak. What I didn`t know was that one side of a polarity cannot arise without the other and the weak part which I had disowned and projected on to other people was well and active in me. But this weakness which lived in the darkness of my ignorance, which I will call my shadow, held a treasure as I was able to see that neither side of the polarity was good or bad as it was purely a judgement on my part. I have been on my journey a long time now and have been moved to go beyond both.
I don`t run away from so called negative feelings either - I now experience them fully and in so doing I have been truly able to begin to dissolve a feeling trapped at the cellular level as I saw the pattern which I had created and which was running through my life. Once you feel and see through this unresourceful state then it`s impossible to continue doing it,no matter what the outcome might be in letting it go.
I don`t think you can dissolve hidden unconscious patterns by not thinking about something which might be distressingbecause I think it is only by facing, and not avoiding, that we are given the opportunity to grow.
All the very best, Jane
