But I guess that's how you know that the author really stands by and believes in what they write--when getting the word out becomes more important than "paying up" first. Though this sort of has a reverse effect though, that actually works in the author's favor. Chances are, the people who are downloading pirated copies probably wouldn't have went and bought it anyway, so Paulo gets more exposure that way. Then, for those who WOULDN'T settle for a pirated copy, just knowing that the author is not against people downloading his works through piracy will give that group even more motivation to buy his book--because the amount of trust in his writing goes up in their minds :-) That's the way I see it anyway.
