Some of you may have heard this story already. But for those who haven’t and those who have, it is a truly awe-inspiring tale of a girl who against all odds, managed to triumph and as the title suggests, went to Harvard.
Liz Murray was born to poor drug-addicted, HIV infected parents. She was already homeless by the time her mother died and was just 16 at this point. Her father was unable to care for her as he was already in a homeless shelter. But despite all this, she secured a scholarship and went to Harvard.
It’s only 3 and a half minutes, so give in for just a moment and let yourself feel awesome, magnificent, and bursting with potential
The best part is that Liz Murray’s story is not entirely unique. Many have been through immense hardship and pain and still managed to pull through and go even further than the average person.
So, you’re not done yet. Before you leave, you need to check out this story that has people raving and over 240 comments. It’s just as awe-inspiring and amazing and I feel that people really need to know it. It’s about a young boy, who like Liz was born into poverty, only he was born in East Africa.

I admire her and think that it was great of her to persevere in spite of hard condtions. She had a will and the way opened. I wish her all success and happiness and may God bless and prosper her abundantly.
Great story! Anything is possible if you really believe you can do it. We are all unique and we all have great potential like Liz Murray is saying. Faith, desire, persistence and action are the ingredients for success (Napoleon Hill — Think & Grow Rich) and we all possess those ingredients. “If it´s to be it is up to me” or like Anthony Robbins say: “Awaken The Giant within.” We can all be successful — THE POWER LIES WITHIN
Liz,
Really enjoyed your story! I am at a crossroads myself. I am at a time when I too feel like giving up but I am not going to! YOu have brought me more strength. I am a single mother who has opened a business. My original business partner is trying to destroy me. There also is another person who we thought of bringing into my business — he too has ripped me of financially and also trying to ruin my name. It seems nothing ever surprises me now.…I am hanging in there because my business is my life for me and my daughter. Thanks for sharing your story! Lana
Liz is certainly an inspiration. Maybe we need deeper challenges to get us moving sometimes. Thank you for sharing this great story of perseverance and achievement.
Thank you. Great to see this as I start my working day and have major changes ahead of me, very soon. I recently went through some (what I thought were) tough times including losing most of my financial wealth in my early 60’s. Am now rebuilding on a still solid basis of family, friends, health and being spiritually robust. Liz’s story, and others like it are the inspiration that keep me going, and enjoying.
