One needs to learn about goal setting from the Olympic gold medalist rower- Sir Mathew Pinset.
At the IMP OWP 2010 Pinsent will share his experience from four Olympic campaigns, which resulted in four gold medals. He will highlight the importance of goal setting, communication, trust and ultimately the courage it takes to win in the toughest of conditions.

Focal Point
Brian Tracy
"You can dramatically improve the overall quality of your life far faster than you might think possible. All you need is the desire to change, the decision to take action, the discipline to practice the new behaviors you have chosen, and the determination to persist until you get the results you want."
Be responsible pro-active not reactive
Be a creator not a victim
Be Flexible - find the flow - stay open.
Big IDEA - IDEALIZATION

FASCINATING
Successful people have tremendous clarity about
who they are, what they want, and how they are going to get it. Unsuccessful people usually
are unsure and confused about who they are, what they want, and where they are going.

Maslow says the same thing about psychologically healthy/successful people having clarity. He
says that whereas the average individuals “often have not the slightest idea of what they are, of
what they want, of what their own opinions are,” self-actualizing individuals have “superior
awareness of their own impulses, desires, opinions, and subjective reactions in general.”

Successful people think about what they want and
how to get it most of the time. As a result of this mental focus, they accomplish much more than
the average person, even though they may have started with no particular advantages.

Unsuccessful people, on the other hand, tend to think and talk about what they don’t want
most of the time. They think and talk about who they are mad at and who is to blame for their
problems most of the time. They don’t understand why their lives don’t improve even though
they have been working as long as others. They slip into the habit of thinking and talking even
more about their problems and who is to blame, thereby making the situation worse.”

Know thyself - have vision - be disciplined - make it happen.
This was an interesting note -

Hey there, I've been away from PN but just needed to comment on your post from 2 weeks (!) ago. Those darn gremlins! Same here some days, but PN has defenitely helped me too in saying hello to them and keep doing something. I have the negative habit of becoming "frozen" when things go awry, I think "I should've, could've...". PN has helped me to keep going!

If I had more time, I'd say it in fewer words. Most powerful idea from Focal Point : "You are where you are and what you are, because of yourself and nothing else. Nature is neutral, it doesn't care. If you find out what others, who are now getting the effects that you desire, are doing, and you do the same things, you'll get the same results and rewards. And, if you don't, you won't!

This is a great one from Brian Tracy.“Simplify your life, double your productivity, and achieve all your goals.” This is so important, if you do not keep things simple(or for me at least) you will find yourself doing far too many things and in most cases if they all do get done they are done poorly. The power of focus will double or triple your productivity. Do what you do best and achieve your goals. Delegate what you do poorly and is not productive for you to some one else.
