The existence of God, a creator, a higher being, or simply a spiritual presence. Whatever you call it, can quantum physics prove it? Or does it disprove it?
Science and religion have been fighting an ongoing battle for centuries and it doesn’t look like it’s about to stop soon. If you think science has the final say in whether or not there’s a omniscient being staring at you from a heavenly throne, then think again.
In this article, 5 scientists are interviewed on their thoughts about quantum physics, science, and religion. All are renowned in their field, have won awards, and have contributed immensely to physics. But, like everything else in life, there is no indisputable answer to the question at hand.
One scientists is an atheist while another is now an Anglican priest. It doesn’t get more different than that.
Read on and tell us how science and spirituality or religion interact in your life. Are they mutually exclusive or do they coexist in perfect harmony?
“What do you get if you divide science by God?
A prize-winning quantum physicist says a spiritual reality is veiled from us, and science offers a glimpse behind that veil. So how do scientists investigating the fundamental nature of the universe assess any role of God, asks Mark Vernon.
The Templeton Prize, awarded for contributions to “affirming life’s spiritual dimension”, has been won by French physicist Bernard d’Espagnat, who has worked on quantum physics with some of the most famous names in modern science.
Quantum physics is a hugely successful theory: the predictions it makes about the behaviour of subatomic particles are extraordinarily accurate. And yet, it raises profound puzzles about reality that remain as yet to be understood.
The bizarre nature of quantum physics has attracted some speculations that are wacky but the theory suggests to some serious scientists that reality, at its most basic, is perfectly compatible with what might be called a spiritual view of things.

Perhaps GOD needs proof of our existence!
The existence of God is almost or should be a non-topic, as we will forever go around in circles about what exactly is God and can we find it (him?).
In a nutshell The Kolbrin Bible insightfully states that the word God is man’s way of simplifying a very complex matter!
This can be seen by the now more liberal usage of the word God to try to be inclusive with our thoughts, for example people will say: “…God, or whatever God may mean to you.” Somehow broadening it while still keeping the same argument.
I truly believe that there is a veil (a rather thin one at times that lets us realise there is a veil) that separates us humans from knowledge that is beyond our understanding, and we will not be able to explain any of the more complex matters that have been kept from us, simply by our state of being, ie being human. Or is it too close to be seen?
I believe that like Michaelangelo’s painting on the Cistine Chapel with God reaching out to touch man and man touching God from within a depiction of a human brain, that “God” can be found in the human brain! So are we looking too far for the answer that is within us? We can’t search for any answer without the human brain! With out it there are no questions and surely we cannot find any answers without it! So is what we see all around us God? I would like to think so…the answer is within and without. I don’t think that “God” is a part but the whole!
How this all orginated is a totally different question. Are there multiverses instead of a universe?
And if “God” can be found as on entity, who then created that entity?
God doesn’t need to be proved. He just is. He is beyond any science. Science is just trying to understand God, and it will continue trying for ages to come. Since God created the Universe, he also created science and scientists. He is first and foremost.
I’ve never been the same after reading Frank Tipler’s “The Physics of Immortality”. Then he upped the ante with his “The Physics of Christianity”. Tipler, as some know, is a professor of mathematical physics @ Tulane U. I keep getting the impression from Tipler that he is reaching — over-reaching — in a battle against the atheists that western physics has spawned. More likely, I cannot follow his physical arguments any better than the theological ones that his science supports with unrelenting thoroughness. The hand of “church”, with which I can have nothing to do, is upon his work. I may not know physics, or theology, but “church” is something that has ended aboriginal cultures across the globe and, if Aquinas was right in this regard of physical theory and — even Nietzsche — was right in that regard (Tipler knows it all), apologists for the church all sound like Pat Buchanan to me, never mind how erudite. They simply refuse to recognize what depredations their “faith”, however well informed, have visited upon — and continue to visit upon — the rest of us.
Amit Goswami, on the other hand, a retired professor of physics here @ the U of Oregon, is another story, and likely another universe paralleling that of the the physics of christianity. Here’s to the many worlds hypothesis.
I totally agree with Shosh, it is futile for Scientists to prove God, for God is and has always been and will always be — he is alpha and olmega.Man will never know God through this kind of approach. The Scientists should just believe in God and focus on improving themselves and mankind
Instead of saying God is this or that, we need to ask the question
“What is God”? How would you define God?Man wrote a book many years ago that says God is alive and with us,but is it true?
I don’t know!Do you?
And the answer is there is no answer. G*d is the IS, the field of awareness upon which all things happen. As such, it cannot be proven. And besides, who do we have to prove G*d to anyways if WE are All That Is. We need to prove ourselves to ourselves? That is totally backwards.
Furthermore, we don’t need to search for G*d because he is already there. “Already there” is actually insufficient, because he just IS there. The IS is the all intelligent formless substance that pervades all things. Searching for G*d is like looking for your own eyeballs. I think there is a flaw in logic when people believe that G*d is some central being. I do agree that he made us in his likeness, but then who are we? We are also that field of awareness. Confusion only arises when we identify with the things or events that happen on that field — that is the function of the ego, to identify with form. But we are not this, and this is not we. When we become One with the field we are naturally inseparable from the things and events that happen upon it.
In conclusion, once you experience G*d, or as I call him — the Great OM — there is no need to prove anything, nor could you even if you wanted to. The IS, the field of awareness, both does and doesn’t exist, and this truth is self-evident.
God is, inside of us and everywhere. God is The CREATOR of UNIVERS in a perfect order. HE sees and knows everything about us. His NAME is LOVE and He needs us to cooperate to help others.
So what came first the chicken or the egg? As far as I am concerned I exist now regardless of what the so called experts
say about a deity. The Bible does provide an exceptional guide
to live ones life by. We will all find out about an afterlife soon enough.
Quantum Physics can and will prove the existence of God very soon.and it will happen in this century. We live in a New scientific Age where the old system of seeing things will be fazed out and the new age will come into being by the year 2012.The lower frequencies that are stopping us from seeing or hearing God will be lifted and the veils between us and the spirit world will be lifted. Loved ones who have died will contact us. This is because our awareness will be on a higher level.
Energy can either be a particle or a wave which can be influenced by the mind. The universe is in the process of change
at this very moment. The vibrational frequency is changing into a higher gear which happens every 36 or 37 thousand years. People alive today will notice the change by 2012 or sooner. Those who have gone beyond the five senses in deep meditation will tell you that you can never contact God by the intellect. Therefore the puzzling cones given to student monks by spiritually advanced senior Monks [What is the sound of one hand clapping and what does your original face look like before you were born] must be realized [self realization] before the puzzle can be truely understood or realized.Exciting times are upon us.
Yesterdays Religion is todays Mythology. Todays religion will be the myth of tomorrow, etc etc…
I feel a connection to the Earth & the Universe without the need for any invisible gods.
The existence of God cannot be proven. Proof is of the mind, as science is…but God is beyond mind. Man has lost awareness of the Truth of God as a consequence of becoming attached to the mind, the consequence of which is the contracting of awareness to become confined and limited to within the mind. So does man insist on knowing and understanding that which is beyond knowing and understanding. What may be known and understood are the manifestations of God, which is Spirit-Being, in the realm of manifestation that is mind-consciousness. God, or Spirit is not a matter of knowing but a matter of BEING.
The experience of God, or Spirit-Being, in this world is in the experience of unconditional love. You cannot prove the existence of love, or define its size, shape, how much space it occupies, it is immeasurable, but you can experience it by BEING love. What can be measured are the manifestations of love…but the manifestation of love is not love itself, which is a BEING. Love is not a matter of knowing but a matter of BEING.
Everything in the mind can be known, but what is beyond mind, which is BEING, can only be unknown. Where knowing ends, BEING begins. God can only be unknown. It is the unknown that makes possible knowing. Man’s insistence on knowing God (or finding it within mind consciousness) is the block to awakening to its reality. The mind-consciousness cannot know the existence of Spirit-Being as the beach can only know man as footprints and sculptures in its sand.
Science is of the mind and it cannot touch that which is beyond its reach. The mind can only point to the reality of Spirit like a finger points to a star but can never reach and touch it. But the reality of Spirit is within all, and though you may not be able to perceive, know or understand it, you can BE it…if you dare to let go of attachment to the mind as the only reality there is and transcending mind, allowing your awareness to expand back to the wholeness of mind-consciousness and Spirit-Being.
Only a fool would say in his heart that there is no God. For in not knowing, it is wiser to believe and it not be than to doubt and be in error.
What is belief? What is proof? You drive down the road with only a yellow line dividing you and oncoming traffic from a head on collision becasue you believe that both of you will follow the law and not cross into each other’s lane.
You breath and feel the air but you cannot see it, nor can you grasp it in your hands. Looking up in the night sky, you see starlight from bodies billions of miles away and in fact many no longer exist. Quantum physics theorizes that at the lowest levels of existence, all is energy. The solidness we preceive with our senses is the real illusion. Belief is simply hope. But there is no denying the subatomic force that connects, that orders all things. All things are made up of the same protons, neutrons and electrons, but the varying amounts give them their form. And this “Force” that permeates all existence causes the stars to burn for eons, the earth to spin upon it’s axis and for every being “seen or unseen” to have an existence. That “Force” was present when the primordal atom was infinitesimally small and that same Force still encompasses the entire universe.
So to deny an existence of God is to deny an existence of all things including self. This denial can not occur no matter what avenue you take. For as soon as you start to think about the denial, you confirm your existence. “I think, therefore, I am.”
Now, understanding God is another matter and perhaps an impossibility, but to deny God is…illogical.
can scientist measure the weight of a spirit? if yes, no comment. if no,then, they should give us a break. Because God or the supreme being or how they call Him is spirit. and no other people like those who talk about creativity, mental mastary and other stuffs can prove God. please, When have they been able to disprove God’s creativity? they scientist should please know that they can prove and disprove themselves but not GOD.
If there was no God there would not be anything.
That which is not restricted to any construct of the human mind and is beyond imagination is Divine. This is sometimes revealed to a select few in the form of a revelation or philosophy from time to time and is what history calls religion and is uplifting and blissful. The human mind and intellect cannot comprehend or fathom that which is beyond it but only staggers at the attempt, bewildering as it is to the ego which is the seat of the mind and limited individual personality.
The Existence of God
It is generally stated that neither the existence nor the non-existence of God can be proven. But if there is absolutely nothing or everything is somehow taken away, then whatever is left or there is that remains can only be the place, source or state from which everything is brought into existence and sustained for a while within its own infinite being and by its own infinite or unlimited power of imagination and creation.
This then is why we should consider the infinitely large of the outer universe with all the cosmic forces and objects known and unknown on the one hand, while its opposite, the infinitely small, being that of the inner universe, in the form of man’s mind and emotions together with the subatomic forces on the other, both coexisting at the same time with a beginning and ending. And these make up the whole visible and invisible creation which is seemingly expanding to our awareness, until the endless end, in something greater than itself or God who is boundless conscious intelligent energy beyond the range of human thought and conception, for how else could this really ever be?
The scientist observes. The mystic observes and is being observed
Proving the existence of God from quantum physics I think is possible unless if the procedure of prove commits a category mistake. Quantum physics belong to the realm of nature and so I think absolutely the prove will fall back to to Aquinas’ demonstration of the Five Ways which is from experience.
I concur with Thomists that God is an absolutely necessary being, an uncaused cause, who was who is and who will always be. The question whether quantum physics is able to reach the prove today does not bother me because man keeps growing in knowledge and if we are able to avoid a category mistake as Gilbert Ryle advices I think sooner than later Quantum science will fall back to assert the five ways. So God caused science and the scientist and I am sure He is able to give what is needed to demonstrate his existence in any science-only if we are clear, logical and philosophically open.
We are Spirit having a physical experience
Quantum Physics is only a model for how matter and energy works in the universe–and an inaccurate model, too. That’s why the unified theory will never be found using the current conventional understanding of physics. Seriously, quantum physics can’t be used to PROVE the existence of ANYTHING.
EVERYONE IS MAKING THIS TOO HARD. USE A SIMPLE MATHEMATICAL EQUATION:
CAN YOU GET SOMETHING FROM NOTHING?
0 + 0 DOES NOT EQUAL ONE
THEREFORE YOU CANNOT GET SOMETHING FROM NOTHING-BUT HERE WE ARE.
SO IF THERE WAS NOTHING AT THE BEGINNING OF TIME-AND SUDDENLY THE UNIVERSE APPEARED-THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOMETHING OR SOMEONE INTERVENING-AKA GOD.
ELIMINATE THE IMPOSSIBLE-AND WHAT EVER IS LEFT MUST BE TRUE-HENCE GOD.
I agree with Brads theory. Before time space and matter were created there was the vacuum. But this vacuum was pregnant with awesome potential.
Why does there have to be proof? Once you have experianced GODs’ everlasting PEACE and LOVE there will be no need to “prove” anything to anyone! Feeling the presence of the Lord in my opinion is the Best feeling in the world, and its totally free!
I think that the Devil is using Science to his advantage, and its working! If GOD wanted to prove himself he would…But would you believe then? Probley not..Just like most people did not believe Jesus was the Messiah!
Our society is: self infatuated, self pleasing, hateful, rude, judgemental, money hungry, idolistic and drug addicted! The real problem with people denying God is that all the things we have become, are all the things he dosent want us to be! People would actually have to CHANGE!
And to those who thing the Holy Bible is just a story men wrote, explain to me how prophseys written over 1900 years ago are being fullfilled each and every day! Those people had No idea the kind of technology this generation would have, but yet each and everyday a new prophsey is fullfilled!
The Devil is a LIAR! If you dont believe in God or that Jesus came to save us from sin. Then he has won the battle for your life!
Why dont scientists drill down to the center of the earth (where HELL is located) and explain what they see!
Let us remind ourselves that the universe came into existence way before Science was born. Once, Science was born, scientists used scientific tools to measure the immaculate precision of the way the universe exists. It is Science which has proven the cosmological constants which are so precise that if they were any different then we would not be existing today. It is science which has coined the term ”Big Bang”. As we know that Big Bang was a completely random occurrence and it was a catastrophic in nature which means it was disorderly ie it had a high entropy, yet the universe today, which is a result of Big Bang is immaculately precise. This to me proves that a creator created the universe and proves the existence of God. What Science does not understand is that just because it can prove the existence of God does not mean there is no God.
