You wake up in the morning and you just don't feel like doing anything. Or worse yet, you dread going into work.

Well, fear not. I stumbled upon this article that'll give you the tips and tricks that'll get you through any day. Even if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

There's some pretty neat stuff here, but I'd love to hear what you have to say about doing work when you don't feel like it.

Drop a comment below and give us your secret tips.

How To Remain Productive When You Feel Like Giving Up

From Entrepreneurs-Journey.com

Like most people, some mornings I wake up and feel less than enthusiastic about working. Sometimes, this feeling doesn’t stem from laziness or apathy, it’s a stronger power, a sense of futility and helplessness.

I know a lot of people look to my story of success as a source of inspiration and that is one of the greatest benefits I enjoy as a blogger, but – and I’m not afraid to admit it – I don’t always feel energized to pursue business and sometimes in my darkest moments, I even consider throwing in the towel.

This feeling is not so common for me now as I have lifestyle flexibility, a more stable income and a better mindset about work, but earlier on, it definitely was a problem. I want to explain how I overcome these moments (and still do the same thing now on occasion) to stay on track and how you can even have a productive day when you are not really feeling the mojo on the inside.

I expect you have felt similar feelings of despair or a lack of motivation at different stages of your business development, especially if you are yet to establish an income stream online that is sufficient for you to live off, or if you are right at the beginning and you have not seen one cent of return for the work you have put in.

Inspired or Dejected

Depending on your world view and personality style, when you hear of the success of others you may either feel inspired or dejected, and while it’s obviously more fruitful to look at other people achieving what you desire as motivation, as a fallible human, jealousy, depression and anger may be your initial responses.

Your mind is your greatest asset for success in business, but it can be just as strong a force of hindrance, sabotaging your efforts, destroying your work ethic and leaving you with no option but to return to the soul destroying job you promised yourself that you would never go back to.

How To Work When You Don’t Feel Like It

One of the characteristics I believe is at the heart of my success and the success of most entrepreneurs, is an ability to keep working in the face of failure and an ability to force yourself to be productive when you don’t feel like it.

I mean, it's against everything we've been taught, right? That success is always earned. But if you believe in that 100%, where does that leave failure? It also means that failure is always earned. It's your fault if you fail. Entirely.

And this is why in societies such as ours and most of the world's, people take work too seriously and too personally. It creates a certain pain that honestly, is pretty damaging.

In this awesome speech by Alain de Botton, he talks about moving beyond job snobbery, letting the focus off our me-centered lives for a little bit, and ease up so that we can all enjoy our work and careers. As the saying goes, "The world doesn't revolve around you."

A few months ago we had an amazing article (actually one of our top rated articles) by Professor Srikumar Rao. It was called Happiness Is Your Birthright, You Have To Reach Out And Claim It!

And how right he was! The response to Professor Rao's article and Personal Mastery course taught at some of the best business schools in the world including Columbia, Haas, The University of California at Berkeley and London Business School.

But how did a business school lecturer become a personal development guru with a massive following ? And what about him caught the attention of CNN, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Time Magazine?

Dr. Srikumar Rao is the founder of the course, Creativity and Personal Mastery, the only business school course that is so popular among students that it has a long wait list and an alumni association.

He is also the author of the international bestseller Are You Ready to Succeed: Unconventional Strategies for Achieving Personal Mastery in Business and Life.

I'll be conducting two interviews with Srikumar Rao.

And it won't be just me interviewing him. In fact, you're going to help me.

What's your most burning question for Srikumar Rao?

If you've been following them. This should be easy. If you're new to his work. Check out his website AreYouReadyToSucceed.com

Also, Dr. Rao gave an awesome talk to Google's headquarters last year. He covered of course the connection between your self-awareness and happiness as well as work life success:

Click here to view the embedded video.

Don't worry, I'll keep you posted on when the interview will be released.

But before then, don't forget to ask Dr. Rao you're #1 question on happiness and the workplace.

The Challenge For You:

How happy you are in your work?

How do you feel about your career and life path?

Do you feel that you are following your passion and purpose?

How can ideas from the personal development field be brought into the workplace?

Does meditation, gratitude, positive thinking, visualization, intuition etc have a place in work life?

After you've posed those 5 questions to yourself, I want you to drop a comment and post this final question:

What's the #1 thing you want to see changed in your life when it comes to your passion, purpose and career?

Cheers,

Tons of you checked out that new videos from Gary Ryan Blair on goal setting and more importantly goal getting that we were sending you last week and if you're like me, then you were probably a little shocked (but in a good way).

Gary Ryan Blair is an author, speaker, coach and consultant—specifically focused on helping people set and achieve goals.

Has worked with both individuals and corporations, and currently about 60% of the Fortune 500 companies are using the learning systems he developed.

The idea of the elusive connection that forms successes in our brain is amazing and I love the implications of what that means from a personal development point of view.

The video definitely opened up my eyes to a whole new perspective. From the idea of creating that connection between goal setting and goal getting to the pattern of successes or failures we end up in, Gary Ryan Blair made a really good point.

If you remember, there was a question posed after the video that asked: What you would like to accomplish in 30 days?. The replies were overwhelming. I thought I'd share some of the most touching ones here:

"Dear Gary, I have the hardest time in creating any goals. I feel like a dandelion seed and just travel where the prevailing winds take me. I've tried many systems, but have not found anything that helps me with goals. I'm 60, have raised 3 kids, been married for 35 years, but have an aversion (I guess ) to goal setting and achieving. It may have to do with my Dad who died before he could retire and enjoy the 'Good Life'. Your video is very good, but more help is needed for me to set and go for the goals I want.
Namaste"
- Fran

"Hi Gary,

Just like Fran above I've hit the 60+ years and have a hard time creating goals. I feel like a leaf on a river's surface floating where the waters take me.

Settings goals is difficut for me and even if I have mornings are a terribly unproductive for me. I have trouble getting started and keeping foccussed

Love to hear any positive suggestions.

Kind regards"
- Peter

"I have never achieved a goal that I wrote on paper, looked at everyday and psyched myself up on. I guess I was always waiting for the genie to appear. I guess the biggest goal I have in my life would be to find out what my true goal is."

"I agree. I am so overwhelmed with the many goals I have that I feel totally lost in even starting. Too many directions - to many choices - leaves me with stagnating procrastination. For the past 22 years I have been very successful (by doing what people told me was difficult to achieve). That gave me pupose and as soon as I reached the top, I resigned, to look for the next challenge. In 2006 my life changed completely, I stopped working and now I am really stuck in too many directions of options. Can anybody assist out there with some wise words?"
- Hannelie

"Great video and I agree setting goals is the easy part achieving them can be elusive. I have set goals and fallen short of achieving them. It is much harder to set a goal when you have failed and the more times you fail the harder it is to dream."

I can't help but notice that most of these comments have to do with following through on a goal and how to even choose a goal to start with. And it doesn't matter where you come from. Everyone's got problems with goal setting and goal getting, be it with your finances, your love life, your health, or your career.

Gary Ryan Blair

I'm really glad this was brought up in the comments because Gary is hosting a teleseminar with Alex Mandossian, nonetheless, on how to pinpoint your goals, position yourself for success (he's got a cool 10-step method for this), and how to inject a lil' discipline into your life.

You guys may have realized already how much of a goal setting nerd I am. I've even done some blog posts on it and a few presentations for my team too. I've already signed myself up for the teleseminar but from what I hear there's still some spots open so if you're serious about changing your life and achieving your dreams, then check out this teleseminar.

Cheers,

Vishen

P.S. Gary even reveals the "cook book technique" on getting discipline under your belt. It's helped over 80,000 organizations and 4 million people get their dreams on the right track.

Guys, this is huge.

As promised, here is my interview with Greg Habstritt, the man behind the scenes of Engage Today 2009.

He's the person who managed to bring the Dalai Lama, Richard Branson, Sean Stephenson, Dr. Stephen R. Covey, Janet Attwood, and countless other luminaries for one groundbreaking conference this September.

And how does one guy do that? Well, it wasn't through just wishful thinking.

It started like this. Greg and I were in the Dallas airport having some lunch and the ideas he brought up shook me. I was more than inspired by his ideas of the MVP mindset and his tactics on surviving the New Shift.

So I had no choice but to ask him to share these ideas with you guys.

Check out this interview and he'll explain what Engage Today will do to our minds and the world. We're entering a new phase of history and Greg is going to share with you the crazy ideas he shared with me and his 3-step formula to achieving the mindset that'll let you take advantage of the new rules.

I'm talking about abundance with inner peace.

This interview is so important I even whipped up a workbook for it .

Check out this free interview (and don't forget to fill our your workbook!) and let me know what you think of the New Shift that's taking place in global consciousness.

He's also a legend.

Born in Scotland in 1835, he and his parents moved to the States and is best known as a industrialist, businessman, and a major philanthropist.

He gave away most of his money to establish libraries, schools, and universities in the U.S., the U.K., and in other countries.

And even though he was rich, he wasn't an arrogant elitist. No, in fact he was and still is an inspiration to millions.

So if you're looking for success coupled with happiness, then check out these 4 tips by Andrew Carnegie.

If you have any other quotes or tips from Andrew Carnegie please share them with us.

Andrew Carnegie’s Top 4 Tips for Massive Success

By Henrik Edberg from PositivityBlog.com

“Aim for the highest.”

“You cannot push anyone up the ladder unless he is willing to climb.”

In the late 1800s there lived a very rich man. In fact, he was so rich that he is now considered the second richest man in history. And, at least as I remember it, he became an inspiration for Scrooge McDuck.

His name was Andrew Carnegie. You may have heard this name before if you have read the classic personal development book “Think and Grow Rich”. It was Carnegie that gave the author Napoleon Hill the assignment to interview hundreds of wealthy people about success. And those interviews became the foundation for the book.

Here are four of Carnegie’s own top tips for massive success.

1. Pay attention to the more important things.

“As I grow older, I pay less attention to what men say. I just watch what they do.”

This is one of my favourite quotes at the moment. And I have to agree, I pay less and less attention to what people say. Because in the end, what someone does is the most important thing. Talking is easy, but walking your talk is harder. And walking it consistently even though you fall, slip back into old habits and make mistakes is a huge part of success.

Now, talking and discussing what you want to do can be very helpful. But at some point you also follow that up and take action.

And this not just a good way to see people in a clear way. It’s also a good way to look at yourself more clearly. Because you can tell yourself and others all kinds of things all day. But what you are actually getting done shows a lot about who you are right now and how you future will look.

I'm crazy nervous about this but at the same time really excited (what's a word to describe nervous+excited? my dictionary is not helping me right now).

There's no easy way to say this, but I will be speaking from the same stage as Richard Branson, Sean Stephenson, and even the Dalai Lama.

What's even more amazing is that you're a part of this change too. The whole goal of the conference is to bring together world geniuses under one roof to create a catalyst for economic, social, and environmental change.

And here's where you come in.

Let's face it. Not everyone is a morning person. Least of all me. But we still drag ourselves out of our cozy beds each day to live our lives.

To be honest, I just woke up and feel like going back to bed but what's a better time than now to write about having a great morning?

So I did some research, looked at the hardest parts of anyone's morning, and came up with this quick 5-step guide to getting the best out of every morning so that the rest of your day is absolutely amazing.

Step 1: Get A Good Night's Sleep

Probably the most important. You can do all the morning rituals you want but if you didn't get enough quality sleep, then you'll still be missing out on your full morning potential.

Now not everyone's the same. Some people only need 6 whereas I need a good 9 hours. Figure out where you stand and make it your target to get that amount of sleep every night. Of course, a little late night partying is allowed every now and then, just don't over do it.

Here are some quick tips on getting a better night's sleep:

Meditate - clearing your mind can do wonders for getting you into deep sleep right away instead of staring at the ceiling for hours.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol in the evenings.

Make going your bed a place of sleep. This means no eating or working in bed. You want to identify sleep with your bed and nothing more. Except maybe for some fun in the sheets

If you're the type of person who can't shut off their minds, write a list of all the things you need to do tomorrow. This gets them out of your head and organized so you won't lose sleep over tasks.

If you suffer from a sleeping disorder or sleep apnea, be sure to consult your physician about it.

Step 2: Spend Some Alone Me-Time

Set aside a block of time just for yourself. Even if it's just for 20 minutes. We live in such a connected and busy world it's often hard to remember to focus on just you. Not your family, not your pets, not your boss, your mortgage, etc. Just you.

If you ever get the feeling you don't know yourself anymore then it's time to take a break, do something you love alone, and take the time to focus on who you are. If you're only always surrounded by people your personal growth may stagnate.

So here are some ideas to get you on that road of self-discovery and enjoy your own company:

Pray

Meditate

Exercise

Write in your journal

Read that book you've been meaning to but can't seem to find enough time

Do something creative, such as painting or drawing

You get the idea. The point is to do something you love, do it alone, and focus on just you.

Step 3: Drink Plenty Of Water And Eat A Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast is the foundation of any nutritional diet. So eat up. Just make sure it's healthy. Eating breakfast will energize you get your brain going faster. Don't underestimate the importance of this meal.

Most people don't get enough water. So make it part of your daily morning routine to drink one big glass of water. We often wake up dehydrated and don't know it. So before you go for your coffee, have some water first.

Step 4: Be Productive From The Get-Go

When you get to work, don't spend time procrastinating. We all do this at one point or another. We know we have Task A, B, and C to do but instead we check Twitter, Facebook, our emails, or surf the net.

This is extremely unproductive and will get you into a bad routine. Instead go straight into what you need to do. This'll create momentum and encouragement for you to finish everything else on your To-Do list. But of course, we all need breaks.

So schedule 10 to 15 minute breaks in between tasks for you to relax and entertain your distractions for a while. But be disciplined. Once your scheduled break is up, go back to your goals for the day.

Step 5: Outline Your Top 3 Most Important Tasks (M.I.T.s) And Do These First

These are the tasks that you absolutely need to get done. And often they're the ones that you want to do the least. Well, suck it up and do them. This gives you a great boost of accomplishment each morning and will make the rest of your day easier, happier, and smoother.

This also ingrains good habits within you. The next time you set out a huge goal for yourself you'll be more likely to finish it as your mind is conditioned to take challenges straight on and finish them. You'll end up with that "Yes, I can" attitude.

Thanks for reading guys,

Gabrielle Lim

P.S. I'd love to know more about how you get yourself pumped up everyday, so drop me a comment and share some of your insights.

Editor's Note: Before you start reading watch this special video message from Robert Scheinfeld:

Our discussion here begins with a discussion of The Truth of who you really are. Who you really are is what I call an “Infinite Being” – a magnificent being who lives in a constant state of infinite power, wisdom, abundance, and joyfulness. Along your journey, you’ve no doubt heard something like this:

"We are Spiritual Beings having a physical experience."

That’s true, but it’s the little-known True nature of our “physical experience” I want to chat with you about here.
Your natural state as an Infinite Being also includes having an unlimited desire to play, explore, and express yourself creatively. As a result, you decided you wanted to play a game called "The Human Game."

We’re all here playing The Human Game!

The Human Game - What is it and why do we play it?

I define the term “game” as anything we do for entertainment, fun, challenge, and to express ourselves creatively. As such, to me, sports and traditional games like checkers, chess, bridge, and monopoly are games. But so is painting sculpting, playing a musical instrument, reading novels, watching plays, movies or TV shows, etc.
For purposes of discussion and using metaphors in this article, however, I’m going to focus 100% on sports games. All sports games have specific structures, themes, “playing fields,” and specific ways of winning.

Editor's Note: Robert Scheinfeld has spent over 20 years helping people change their lives through spiritual counseling. He has 3 bestsellers under his belt: the New York Times bestseller, Busting Loose From The Money Game, and also the bestsellers The Invisible Path to Success and The 11th Element.

Robert has became a multimillionaire, plunged $153,000 in debt, and spent seven years struggling before discovering the final missing pieces, such as the restricting aspects of The Human Game.

In addition to being a spiritual counselor, Robert is a master of sales and marketing strategies and has had first-hand experience in creating profitable million dollar businesses.

Click here to download the exclusive audio and e-book from Robert and start discovering the Human Game secrets >>

Like baseball games have 9 innings, golf matches have 18+ holes, soccer games have two halves, and tennis matches have multiple sets, The Human Game was designed to have two phases. I call them “Phase 1” and “Phase 2” to keep things simple

The Goal of the Human Game

The theme of baseball is to score more runs than the other team. For golf, it’s to get the ball into the cup with the fewest number of strokes. For soccer it’s to score more goals than your opponent. The theme of The Human Game is to fully explore the experience of limitation and restriction – to explore what happens when you limit your natural state of infinite power, wisdom, abundance, joy, and ability to express yourself creatively.

Phase 1 Of the Human Game

To take that concept deeper, since your natural state is one of infinite power, wisdom, abundance, and joy, in Phase 1 of The Human Game, the goal is to convince yourself you’re the opposite of that – that you’re not powerful; you’re at the mercy of forces beyond your control; you’re living in a dangerous world; you’re not very “smart” (and/or there’s so much you don’t know and must learn); you’re not very abundant as it relates to money and stuff (or your abundance is unstable and can come, go, shrink, grow, etc.); and you’re unhappy or experiencing “negative” emotions most of the time.

As a result, The Human Game is jam packed with all sorts of limiting and restrictive ideas and experiences. Concepts like death, poverty, loss, fear, pain, shame, struggle, and sorrow were all created exclusively for The Human Game experience.

The Playing Field For The Human Game

Soccer is played on a field, basketball on a court, baseball on a diamond, golf on a course. The playing field for The Human Game is what we call “3 Dimensional Reality” or “The Physical Universe,” which has visible and invisible components.

The playing field isn’t “real.” It doesn’t Truly have any power over us. It’s a cleverly crafted illusion that we create and convince ourselves is real and has power over us in Phase 1 -- as the quantum physicists and mystics have told us.

Once you’re born, the process of forgetting The Truth (about who you really are and what your natural state is), limiting and restricting yourself, and convincing yourself the illusory playing field is real kicks into high gear. In the popular psychology, success and self-help literature, this process is often called programming or conditioning, but it goes much deeper than is generally discussed.

How To Play In Phase 1 Of The Human Game

Therefore, to play in Phase 1 of The Human Game, we must:

Create the illusory playing field (3 Dimensional Reality), convince ourselves it’s real and has tremendous power over us

Convince ourselves we’re the opposite of who we really are as we play The Human Game on the field

Play with and explore limitations and restrictions in a myriad of ways as we play on the field

Living In Phase 1

That was a tremendous achievement – and it’s at the core of what makes The Human Game so much fun and challenging for us as Infinite Beings (even though you and I might disagree about it being “fun” at times from our limited and distorted perspectives). To do it, we used every resource at our disposal – personal experiences, what we see happening to other people, what others say to us, what we say to ourselves, the media, song lyrics, movies and TV shows, books, etc.

As we play in Phase 1, because the name of the game is limitation and restriction, there are so many things we want to change, fix and improve about our lives. We’re encouraged to try all kinds of strategies, techniques, and tools to do it. But we never fully succeed – or the experience of “success” doesn’t last. The reason that happens is because remaining limited, restricted, and convinced the illusion is real is the desired outcome in Phase 1. By design, it doesn’t change and we don’t get to “have it all” until we enter Phase 2 and expand to a certain point. More about that in a minute.

The Self-Created Cloud Of Illusion

Let me share a metaphor with you to hammer this critical and little-known Truth home. Compare the Infinite Being that you really are to the sun. When you think of the sun, you think of tremendous power, energy, light and heat, right? So it’s a good fit for your natural state.

Now, imagine that in Phase 1, you create a very solid, dense, layer of cloud cover that blocks your access to the sun of who you really are. Metaphorically then, on the other side of the cloud cover, as we play in Phase 1 on the illusory playing field called 3 Dimensional Reality, we’re playing in a dark, cold, black and white world – compared to the brightness, warmth, and “color” of our natural state as Infinite Beings.

As long as the cloud cover is in place and access is blocked to your natural state, you may be able change some of the details of what you experience on a daily basis – as it relates to income, net worth, business, career, relationships, health and wellness, etc. (you may not) – but even if you do, you’ll still remain limited, restricted, convinced the illusion is real and you’re the opposite of who you really are within it. Why? Because that’s the whole point, the goal, the “job” of the cloud cover in Phase 1!

This is why none of the self-help, personal growth, or success techniques work consistently or reliably. They’re not meant to in Phase 1!

Achieving True And Lasting Transformation

You must knock out the cloud over if you want to experience what I call “True And Lasting Transformation.” You can’t just have an intellectual understanding of who you are, what your natural state really is, and what’s really going on, you must actually knock out the cloud over.

Most of us spend our lives struggling in Phase 1 (to one degree or another, in one or more areas of our lives), trying to change, fix and improve our circumstances, failing to do it fully, having no idea there’s a Phase 2 of The Human Game, or how to begin playing it. That was my story until 5+ years ago.

Entering Into Phase 2 Of The Human Game

In Phase 2 of The Human Game, the whole game reverses itself. Where Phase 1 was all about limitation, restriction, illusions appearing real, creating and locking the cloud cover into place, Phase 2 is all about expansion, knocking out the cloud cover, and re-experiencing The Truth of who you really are.

Phase 2 has two segments to it. In the first segment, you continue playing The Human Game, but you take an extraordinary journey that enables you to drill holes through the cloud cover, knock out bigger and bigger chunks of it, and expand back into more and more of a direct and consistent experience of who you really are -- with full access to your infinite power, wisdom, abundance, joy, and ability to express yourself creatively in a myriad of ways.

Playing The Game With No Limits

In the second segment of Phase 2, you continue playing The Human Game, you don’t become “enlightened” and leave, but you begin playing for the sheer pleasure of playing -- with no limits or restrictions at all, except those you choose to experience to create games that are fun for you to play.

Moving through the first segment of Phase 2 into the second segment of Phase 2 is how you Truly “win” The Human Game! True Success is not about being “successful” as it relates to money, business, career, relationships, health and wellness, sex, being happy, being of service to others, etc. – it’s about expanding back into a direct experience of who you really are, and being able to play The Human Game for the sheer pleasure of playing – with no “outside” limits or restrictions.

Opening The Gateway To Phase 2

Through a remarkable journey that began for me when I was 12 (I’m 52 at the time of this writing), I discovered how to open a gateway into Phase 2. I developed a set of tools you can use to drill tunnels through the cloud cover, poke holes through it, ultimately knock out huge chunks, and expand as you play the Phase 2 game. I also created a series of maps and guidance systems that support you as you drill and expand. I’ll share more about my discoveries with you in the free gifts described below.

I’m sure this all sounds very exciting to you, but it may also seem impossible, impractical, pie in the sky, or something reserved for a special few. I assure you it’s possible, it’s practical, and it’s do-able -- for you!

To me, the Phase 2 game is the best game in town, and an extraordinary experience that’s beyond words. My first priority and primary focus in life is playing The Phase 2 game myself. My second priority and point of focus is supporting others who wish to do the same. I invite you to join me, and thousands of others worldwide, who are now playing the Phase 2 Game.

As I mentioned in the video above, the words above barely scratch the surface of what I have to share about Phase 1, Phase 2, and winning The Human Game. To allow you to go deeper, I’ve got two free gifts for you. One is a 90 minute audio recording taken from a live event I did, and the other is a 35 page E-book.
