<p>It’s the lesson most of us struggle to learn throughout our own lives.</p>
<p>Maybe it’s the lesson of life and love.  It’s certainly been the major issue people have talked to us about in our thirty years as therapists and relationship coaches.  Even if the person brought in a problem of depression or marital misery, this issue was hovering in the background.  The depression never lifted and the marriage never harmonized until the person learned this mega-lesson. It’s is if a secret—perhaps the deepest secret—is withheld from us until we can open our hearts for the few seconds or minutes it takes to reveal the secret to ourselves.</p>

<h4>Here is the deepest secret:</h4>
<p>The major barrier to a loving relationship is an unloved part of you.<br />
That’s right: An aspect of ourselves that we have never loved and accepted keeps us from forming and keeping genuine love with others.</p>
<h4>Here’s why:</h4>
<p>If you don’t love yourself, you’ll always be looking for someone else to do it for you.  It never works, because people who don’t love themselves attract people who don’t love themselves.  Then they try <img class="alignright size-full wp-image-5889" title="heart" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/11/Picture-12.png" alt="heart" width="209" height="174" />to get the other person to love them unconditionally when they’re not even doing it for themselves.<span id="more-5880"></span></p>
<p>When you love yourself deeply and unconditionally for everything you are and aren’t, you attract people who love and accept themselves.  If you feel fundamentally unlovable deep down inside, you’ll attract a lover who feels the same way.</p>
<p>When we don’t love some part of ourselves, we run around in desperation trying to get someone else to love us.  Our hope is that if they give us enough love our unlovable part will go away.  It never does.  Only a moment of loving ourselves unconditionally will do that particular job.</p>
<p>Most of us spend our lives running from that unlovable part of us.  When we finally confront it, we will usually discover it’s a fear.  It’s usually a particular fear, and there are a very small number of them.</p>
<h4>The fears that keep us from loving:</h4>
<p>One of them is fear of abandonment.  You can probably see why that fear could play havoc in your relationships.  It certainly did in our early relationships, before we became aware that this fear was driving a lot of our troublesome behavior.  When you’re afraid of being left alone, you’ll either keep people distant so it won’t hurt so bad if they leave you, or you’ll cling to them dependently so they can’t leave without dragging you with them.</p>
<p>Another big fear is the dread of being smothered by the other person.  When you’re in the grip of this fear, you’re worried that your individuality and freedom will be lost if you surrender to full union with the other person.  So, you stay at arm’s length, just as a person who’s afraid of drowning might stand a yard or so away from the water’s edge.</p>
<h4><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-5891" title="Picture 2" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/11/Picture-21.png" alt="Picture 2" width="185" height="257" />Making that fear disappear:</h4>
<p>The good thing to know about fear is that it’s simply a pulsating quiver of racy-queasy sensations in your stomach area.  Fear, said the legendary psychiatrist Fritz Perls, is merely excitement without the breath.  Breathe into the fear and watch what happens:  The butterflies will flutter out of hiding and fly away.</p>
<p>When you love that fear directly, you can actually feel the fear disappear.  In the space where the fear used to be, you now feel a big open space into which a wonderful new relationship can enter.  That’s what happened to us, and that’s what we’ve seen happen to a lot of people when they mustered the courage to love themselves and all their fears.</p>
<h4>The Grip of Fear Holds You In Check</h4>
<p>It’s impossible to enjoy good relationships until we give that scary place in ourselves a split-second of love.  The reason:  The fear causes us to push people away when they get too close.  That’s because our fear gets stirred up when we let them in close.  To keep the fear under control, we keep people at a distance.  We push down the very aspects of ourselves that most need to come to the surface and be loved.  Then, having already judged ourselves unlovable, we strain to get others to love us.  Trying to get other people to love us when we don’t think ourselves lovable is like a dog chasing its own tail.  The more they try to love us, the faster we run from it.</p>

<p>Sean is a good friend, so good in fact, we've hung out in four different countries in the last five months since we met.</p>
<p>We hung out with Richard Branson on his private island last May, in the British Virgin Islands.</p>
<p>We conducted a fun personal growth team retreat in Bali back in June, we spoke together at the Engage Today event in Calgary, Canada in September and in October we met up for a speakers and authors event at L.A.</p>
<p>So, like I said, Sean has been a good friend, UNTIL... two weeks ago.</p>
<p>You see, before that L.A. authors and speakers event, I happened to have traveled a lot, and so I couldn't prevent myself from falling asleep during an important speech.</p>
<p>Now, here's what happened next.</p>
<p>Sean that little devil filmed me falling asleep, and uploaded this video below to Facebook, until many people in my contact list saw the embarrassing moment.</p>

<p>Now, a lot of people know Sean as a brilliant inspiring motivational speaker, a guy who inspires others to lead the best lives, bla bla bla. Eh, whatever.</p>
<p>What many people don't know is this: Sean Stephenson has his funny "dark side."</p>
<p>And given that his new TV show is launching this weekend, I want this to go out to as many people as possible.</p>

<h1 style="text-align: center;">How Your Brain Works</h1>
<p>The electrical activity emanating from the brain creates frequencies called  brainwaves.</p>
<p>Brainwave frequencies are measured in Hertz (Hz), meaning cycles per second. The more cycles per second, the greater the Hertz value.</p>
<p>There are four categories of brainwaves ranging from the most activity to the least activity. These are: BETA, ALPHA, THETA and DELTA.</p>
<p>Each image below depicts a one second snapshot of human brainwave activity, as detected by an electroencephalogram (EEG). As you'll notice, greater values indicate more brainwave activity within the one second time-frame.</p>
<h4>Beta Brainwaves</h4>
<p>BETA BRAINWAVES are characteristic of an engaged mind, which is highly alert and well focused.</p>
<p>Beta activity is quick-connect, fast activity and tends to dominate the normal waking state of consciousness when-attention is directed towards the outside world.</p>
<p>Typically detected in the frontal lobes (where decisions are managed), Beta is usually seen on both sides of the brain in geometric distribution. It may be absent or reduced in areas of brain damage. It is generally regarded as a normal rhythm and tends to be the dominant rhythm in those who are alert, anxious or have their eyes open.</p>

<p>Beta brainwaves are engaged when the brain is aroused or processing activities, such as:</p>
<ul>
<li> involved conversations with others that command your full attention</li>
<li>complex problem solving and assessment of situations</li>
<li>public speaking, lectures or teaching information</li>
</ul>
<h4>Alpha Brainwaves</h4>
<p>ALPHA BRAINWAVES  are slower than beta and can represent a relaxed awareness in the mind.</p>
<p>This rhythm is seen when the brain sets itself to rest or reflect. Alpha rates are increased by closing the eyes and relaxing, yet are offset by opening one's eyes or any concentrated effort.</p>
<p>Alpha is usually best detected in the frontal regions of the head, on each side of the brain. Alpha is the major rhythm seen in normal relaxed adults and is typically regarded as the common relaxation mode beyond the age of 13.</p>

<p>Alpha brainwaves move towards deep relaxation, imagination and intuitive thinking, as they accompany:</p>
<ul>
<li> a relaxed mind after complex thinking into a mode of relaxation</li>
<li>meditation and setting the mind's attention to itself, away from outside distractions</li>
<li>recovery from stressful thoughts and emotional despair</li>
</ul>
<h4>Theta Brainwaves</h4>
<p>THETA BRAINWAVES can indicate drowsiness, daydreaming, the first stage of sleep or 'indirect' imagination/thinking.</p>
<p>Theta activity is not often seen in awake adults (unless engaged in a meditative practice), but is perfectly normal in alert children up to 13 years and in most sleep.</p>
<p>A Theta state can be regarded as a gateway to hypnagogic states that lay between being awake and falling asleep. Often Theta entrainment can promote vivid flashes of mental imagery as one becomes receptive to brain/mind information beyond one’s typical conscious awareness. Theta has also been identified as a part of learning, memory and reductions in stress.</p>

<p>Theta brainwaves are often related to:</p>
<ul>
<li> accessing subconscious information that eludes the conscious mind</li>
<li>hynagogic states like 'daydreaming'</li>
<li>reductions in body rhythms, such as: heart rate and breathing</li>
</ul>
<h4>Delta Brainwaves</h4>
<p>DELTA BRAINWAVES can reveal deep sleep or slow-wave 'background' thinking.</p>
<p>Much like bass sound, Delta tends to be the highest in amplitude and the slowest waves. Delta is often associated with deep sleep. Certain frequencies, in the delta range, have been shown to trigger the body's healing and growth mechanisms.</p>
<p>Interestingly, Delta is the dominant rhythm in infants up to one year, as well as stages 3 and 4 of dreamless sleep.</p>

<p>Delta brainwaves are often related to and indicate:</p>
<ul>
<li> the lowest brain frequencies, possibly indicating subconscious thoughts and information</li>
<li>deep and refreshing sleep that allows the body and brain to rest and repair.</li>
<li>extremely deep meditation and hyper-relaxed mind states</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: center;">...</p>
<p>It is important to note that the brain does not operate on one frequency range at any given time.</p>
<p>All four rates occur at once, yet at varying amplitudes. A good analogy would be to relate each brainwave state to a sting on a violin. All four strings make notes, yet one or more strings can dominate the overall sound at a greater volume.</p>

<p>Why do these “calamities” befall us?</p>
<p>Why are we here?</p>
<p>I believe that we are here to learn who we really are. I believe that <strong>we are here to grow in our power, love, intelligence and sense of self</strong>. I believe we are here to demonstrate to ourselves that we can survive and that after and through survival we rise to higher levels of spiritual and internal power. When I use the word power, I mean the ability, capacity and action of generating – of creating – this divine power within that many times has lain dormant waiting to be awakened.</p>
<p>Are you experiencing a wakeup call right now?</p>
<p>Are you being challenged beyond reason?</p>
<p>Are you unsure of your ability to survive or cope?</p>
<h4>Know that you are more than this experience.</h4>
<p>Know that you are divine.</p>
<p>Know that, on some level, you may even have created this event for your own growth or wakeup call.</p>
<p>Know that this may be a turning point in your life.</p>

Who you really are is what I call an <strong>“Infinite Being</strong>” – a magnificent being who lives in a constant state of infinite power, wisdom, abundance, and joyfulness.  Along your journey, you’ve no doubt heard something like this:</p>
<p><strong>"We are Spiritual Beings having a physical experience."<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-4716" title="lightbeing1" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/08/lightbeing1-228x300.png" alt="lightbeing1" width="183" height="240" /></strong></p>
<p>That’s true, but it’s the little-known True nature of our “physical experience” I want to chat with you about here.<br />
Your natural state as an Infinite Being also includes having an unlimited desire to play, explore, and express yourself creatively. As a result, you decided you wanted to play a game called "<strong>The Human Game</strong>."</p>
<p>We’re all here playing The Human Game!</p>
<h4>The Human Game - What is it and why do we play it?</h4>
<p>I define the term “game” as anything we do for entertainment, fun, challenge, and to express ourselves creatively. As such, to me, sports and traditional games like checkers, chess, bridge, and monopoly are games. But so is painting sculpting, playing a musical instrument,  reading novels, watching plays, movies or TV shows, etc.<br />
For purposes of discussion and using metaphors in this article, however, I’m going to focus 100% on sports games. All sports games have specific structures, themes, “playing fields,” and specific ways of winning.<span id="more-5677"></span></p>

<p>Like baseball games have 9 innings, golf matches have 18+ holes, soccer games have two halves, and tennis matches have multiple sets, The <strong>Human Game was designed to have two phases</strong>. I call them “<strong>Phase 1</strong>” and “<strong>Phase 2</strong>” to keep things simple</p>
<h3>The Goal of the Human Game</h3>
<p>The theme of baseball is to score more runs than the other team. For golf, it’s to get the ball into the cup with the fewest number of strokes. For soccer it’s to score more goals than your opponent. The <strong>theme of The Human Game is to fully explore the experience of limitation and restriction</strong> – to explore what happens when you limit your natural state of infinite power, wisdom, abundance, joy, and ability to express yourself creatively.</p>
<h3>Phase 1 Of the Human Game</h3>
<p>To take that concept deeper, since your natural state is one of infinite power, wisdom, abundance, and joy, in <strong>Phase 1 of The Human Game, the goal is to convince yourself you’re the opposite of that</strong> – that you’re not powerful; you’re at the mercy of forces beyond your control; you’re living in a dangerous world; you’re not very “smart” (and/or there’s so much you don’t know and must learn); you’re not very abundant as it relates to money and stuff  (or your abundance is unstable and can come, go, shrink, grow, etc.); and you’re unhappy or experiencing “negative” emotions most of the time.</p>
<p>As a result, The Human Game is jam packed with all sorts of limiting and restrictive ideas and experiences. Concepts like death, poverty, loss, fear, pain, shame, struggle, and sorrow were all created exclusively for The Human Game experience.</p>
<h3>The Playing Field For The Human Game</h3>
<p>Soccer is played on a field, basketball on a court, baseball on a diamond, golf on a course. The <strong>playing field for The Human Game is what we call “3 Dimensional Reality” or “The Physical Universe,</strong>” which has visible and invisible components.</p>
<p>The playing field isn’t “real.” It doesn’t Truly have any power over us. It’s a cleverly crafted illusion that we create and convince ourselves is real and has power over us in Phase 1 -- as the quantum physicists and mystics have told us.</p>
<p>Once you’re born, the <strong>process of forgetting The Truth</strong> (about who you really are and what your natural state is), limiting and restricting yourself, and convincing yourself the illusory playing field is real kicks into high gear. In the popular psychology, success and self-help literature, this process is often called programming or conditioning, but it goes much deeper than is generally discussed.</p>
<h4>How To Play In Phase 1 Of The Human Game</h4>
<p>Therefore, to play in Phase 1 of The Human Game, we must:</p>
<ol>
<li>Create the illusory playing field (3 Dimensional Reality), convince ourselves it’s real and has tremendous power over us</li>
<li>Convince ourselves we’re the opposite of who we really are as we play The Human Game on the field</li>
<li>Play with and explore limitations and restrictions in a myriad of ways as we play on the field</li>
</ol>
<p><!--more--></p>
<h3>Living In Phase 1</h3>
<p>That was a tremendous achievement – and <strong>it’s at the core of what makes The Human Game so much fun and challenging for us as Infinite Beings</strong> (even though you and I might disagree about it being “fun” at times from our limited and distorted perspectives). To do it, we used every resource at our disposal – personal experiences, what we see happening to other people, what others say to us, what we say to ourselves, the media, song lyrics, movies and TV shows, books, etc.</p>
<p>As we play in Phase 1, because the <strong>name of the game is limitation and restriction</strong>, there are so many things we want to change, fix and improve about our lives.  We’re encouraged to try all kinds of strategies, techniques, and tools to do it. But we never fully succeed – or the experience of “success” doesn’t last. The reason that happens is because remaining limited, restricted, and convinced the illusion is real is the desired outcome in Phase 1. By design, it doesn’t change and we don’t get to “have it all” until we enter Phase 2 and expand to a certain point.  More about that in a minute.</p>
<h3>The Self-Created Cloud Of Illusion</h3>
<p><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-4717" title="sun-cloud11" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/08/sun-cloud11-300x241.png" alt="sun-cloud11" width="283" height="224" />Let me share a metaphor with you to hammer this critical and little-known Truth home. <strong>Compare the Infinite Being that you really are to the sun.</strong> When you think of the sun, you think of tremendous power, energy, light and heat, right? So it’s a good fit for your natural state.</p>
<p>Now, imagine that in Phase 1, you create a very solid, dense, layer of cloud cover that blocks your access to the sun of who you really are. Metaphorically then, on the other side of the cloud cover, as we play in Phase 1 on the illusory playing field called <strong>3 Dimensional Reality</strong>, <strong>we’re playing in a dark, cold, black and white world</strong> – compared to the brightness, warmth, and “color” of our natural state as Infinite Beings.</p>
<p>As long as the cloud cover is in place and access is blocked to your natural state, you may be able change some of the details of what you experience on a daily basis – as it relates to income, net worth, business, career, relationships, health and wellness, etc. (you may not) – but even if you do, you’ll<strong> still remain limited, restricted, convinced the illusion is real </strong>and you’re the opposite of who you really are within it. Why? Because that’s the whole point, the goal, the “job” of the cloud cover in Phase 1!</p>
<p>This is why none of the self-help, personal growth, or success techniques work consistently or reliably. They’re not meant to in Phase 1!</p>
<h4>Achieving True And Lasting Transformation</h4>
<p>You must knock out the cloud over if you want to experience what I call “True And Lasting Transformation.” You can’t just have an intellectual understanding of who you are, what your natural state really is,  and what’s really going on, you <strong>must actually knock out the cloud over.</strong></p>
<p>Most of us spend our lives struggling in Phase 1 (to one degree or another, in one or more areas of our lives), trying to change, fix and improve our circumstances, failing to do it fully, having no idea there’s a <strong>Phase 2 of The Human Game</strong>, or how to begin playing it. That was my story until 5+ years ago.</p>
<h3>Entering Into Phase 2 Of The Human Game</h3>
<p>In Phase 2 of The Human Game, the whole game reverses itself. Where Phase 1 was all about limitation, restriction, illusions appearing real, creating and locking the cloud cover into place, <strong>Phase 2 is all about expansion, knocking out the cloud cover, </strong>and re-experiencing The Truth of who you really are.<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-4718" title="sun-cluod1-2" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/08/sun-cluod1-2-300x241.png" alt="sun-cluod1-2" width="300" height="241" /></p>
<p><strong>Phase 2 has two segments</strong> to it. <strong>In the first segment, you continue playing The Human Game</strong>, but you take an extraordinary journey that enables you to drill holes through the cloud cover, knock out bigger and bigger chunks of it, and expand back into more and more of a direct and consistent experience of who you really are -- with full access to your infinite power, wisdom, abundance, joy, and ability to express yourself creatively in a myriad of ways.</p>
<h3>Playing The Game With No Limits</h3>
<p><strong>In the second segment of Phase 2,</strong> you continue playing The Human Game, you don’t become “enlightened” and leave, but you begin playing for the sheer pleasure of playing  -- with no limits or restrictions at all, except those you choose to experience to create games that are fun for you to play.</p>
<p>Moving through the first segment of Phase 2 into the second segment of Phase 2 is how you Truly “win” The Human Game! True Success is not about being “successful” as it relates to money, business, career, relationships, health and wellness, sex, being happy, being of service to others, etc. – it’s about expanding back into a direct experience of who you really are, and being able to <strong>play The Human Game for the sheer pleasure of playing </strong>– with no “outside” limits or restrictions.</p>
<h3>Opening The Gateway To Phase 2</h3>
<p>Through a remarkable journey that began for me when I was 12 (I’m 52 at the time of this writing), I discovered how to open a gateway into Phase 2. I developed a set of tools you can use to drill tunnels through the cloud cover, poke holes through it, ultimately knock out huge chunks, and expand as you play the Phase 2 game. I also created a series of maps and guidance systems that support you as you drill and expand. I’ll share more about my discoveries with you in the <strong>free gifts described below.</strong></p>
<p>I’m sure this all sounds very exciting to you, but it may also seem impossible, impractical, pie in the sky, or something reserved for a special few. I assure you it’s possible, <strong>it’s practical, and it’s do-able  -- for you!</strong></p>

<p>Well, the truth is that you have 6. <strong>And that 6th one is your intuition</strong>. It's something that we all have but unfortunately only a handful of people really know how to use it to their full advantage.</p>
<p>It's a pity because everyday people struggle to make the right decisions, find their life's purpose, and stress out from worrying about their outcomes. <strong>But if you manage to achieve a high sense of intuition, then life will become a blessing and a joy.</strong></p>

<p>On top of training 50,000 students, she has also been a personal Intuitive advisor to Louise Hay, Julia Cameron, Dr. Wayne Dyer, and even Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins.</p>

<p>There are<strong> 3 levels of intuition</strong> as outlined by psychic and intuition teacher, <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Sonia Choquette</strong></span> and when you hit all 3, you will have success in every part of your life. The <strong>first level</strong> deals with your physical security, the <strong>second level</strong> is relational intimacy (dealing with friends, family and people), and the<strong> 3rd level</strong> is personal interest and success. Vishen just did an interview with<a href="http://www.finerminds.com/interview/sonia-choquette?lt=2395" target="_blank"> Sonia on the 3 levels of intuition.</a></p>
<p>But before you can achieve the 3 levels, you need to sharpen your intuition so check out these <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>5 techniques</strong></span> for six-sensory living.</p>
<h4>1. Find Solitude</h4>
<p>The world we live in now is jam packed with information, disinformation, other people's opinions, media campaigns, etc. So it's pretty hard to differentiate between your inner voice and the voice of the external world.</p>
<p><strong>Spend 30 minutes each day being alone</strong>. Whether you're meditating or journaling, these 30 minutes will allow you to get in touch with you really are and not what the world wants you to be. Take this time to let your thoughts flow and really listen to yourself. <strong>Ask yourself questions. You'll be surprised what answers come out of you.</strong></p>
<p>Most people go through years or even decades without really speaking to their heart and subconscious. What happens is you wake up one day and think, "<em><strong>I have no idea who I am</strong></em>."</p>
<p>If you want to sharpen your intuition, you need to know yourself. You need to acknowledge your inner voice and become familiar with how it speaks to you and what it's personality is. <strong>Just like you spend time getting to know someone else, you also need to spend time to get to know yourself.</strong></p>

<p>Once you have a good idea of who you are, you're intuition will become louder and louder until it overpowers all the other voices in the world. And when you find yourself facing an obstacle, you'll find that the solutions come quicker because <strong>your conscious mind is used to listening to your intuition.</strong></p>
<h4>2. Put yourself in someone else's shoes<img class="alignright size-full wp-image-5415" title="intuition shoes" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/09/Picture-11.png" alt="intuition shoes" width="188" height="290" /></h4>
<p>Another part of intuition is your ability to <strong>feel what someone else is thinking</strong> or going through. This has probably happened to you already without you realizing it. Like when you're with a friend and you can pick up that they feel sad or happy. Even if you're in a large group of people you don't know you can intuitively sense if someone feels out of place or stressed.</p>
<p>This energy you're picking up comes from your intuition. To build your intuition on the relationship front, you need to let go of judgment and put yourself in someone else's shoes. <strong>Try to see things from another person's perspective</strong>.</p>
<p>By dong this you'll connect yourself with humanity and be able to read people on a deeper level. This is incredibly important as everything we do involves other people.</p>
<p>Once your intuition gains strength, finding a soul mate, a business partner, or picking a group of friends will end in more positive outcomes. This form of intuition is also handy for seeing if someone is lying to you or even lying to themselves.</p>
<h4><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-5417" title="intuition" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/09/Picture-22.png" alt="intuition" width="217" height="233" />3. Acknowledge your vibes</h4>
<p>Everyone has vibes. But few acknowledge them. <strong>The next time you feel "something" acknowledge this feeling</strong>, focus on it, and ask yourself what could this feeling possibly mean.</p>
<p>This vibe you're getting might urge you to do something, warn you of something, or try to tip you off about what's coming. <strong>This happens a lot when you meet people.</strong> You might be left with a positive or negative vibe and this is your intuition telling you something. And it's up to you to acknowledge this vibe and analyze it.</p>
<p><strong>The more you do this the more you'll recognize your intuition when it surfaces. </strong>A great story of this came from a Silva student who right before going to Thailand for a vacation used her intuition to sense what the trip will be like. All she felt was a big fat NO. She told her friends immediately how she felt and fortunately for them they chose to go with her intuition. Their trip was scheduled exactly when the 2006 tsunami hit South East Asia.</p>
<p>So pay attention. <strong>Your vibes could save your life.</strong></p>
<h4>4. Play the "I Wonder" Game</h4>
<p>Here's a good way to get your intuition to come out and play with you. Intuition expert and doctor of metaphysics, Sonia Choquette recommends this game and it's tons of fun. <strong>You can play this with your friends and family.</strong></p>
<p>Basically you just say to yourself, "<em><strong>I wonder...</strong></em>" and finish that sentences with whatever pops up. Just let your mind wander in wonderment.</p>
<p><em>"I wonder what color the next car that drives by will be."</em></p>
<p><em>"I wonder who's going to call me next."</em></p>
<p><em>"I wonder what will be on special at the store today."</em></p>
<p>As Sonia says, <strong>wondering is the front door to intuition</strong> and this game allows your mind to go beyond logical thinking and dig into intuition. <p>When we think about wealth, business, or work, intuition doesn't seem to fit in at all. But that just isn't true.  Some of the most successful people in the world rely on their intuition to bring in the big bucks.<strong> Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Oprah Winfrey</strong> all have publicly cited intuition as a reason for success.</p>
<p>Most people wander through life without a clear path of where they want to be and how to get there. Instead we all just guess and test. Or rather trial and error. <strong>These errors can be costly and painful</strong>. So the next time you work with money, give your intuition a check.</p>
<p>Your intuition lets you know when you think a deal will go sour, if a business partner is cheating you out of your money, or where it feels your strengths lie.</p>

<h4>My Journey To Healthy Living</h4>
<p>My name is <strong>Mohana Gill and I was born in Burma</strong>, spent many years of my life in Melbourne, before settling down in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. <strong>I was never an overtly unhealthy person – I enjoyed the multitude of foods available</strong> down under and especially here in Malaysia and was never really concerned all that much about what I put in my body.</p>
<p>I have three sons, Sanjeev, Anil and Rakesh. In our family food has always played a significant role. From the time they were babies food was always prepared  at home. <strong>My husband and the boys enjoyed a variety of food</strong> and were very discerning in their tastes.</p>
<p>Of all my children Sanjeev was the one who was most passionate about food and relished each and every meal. It was fun and heartwarming to see him devour food laid before him. During holidays from boarding school in Melbourne and later from University he would approach each meal with relentless fervour. Our many friends enjoyed taking him out because he would enjoy all genres of food, from hawker stalls to fine dining. <strong>I was constantly thinking of ways and means to satisfy his wide ranging appetite.</strong></p>
<p><span id="more-5257"></span>One day he told me “Mum you are a good cook, but for a gourmet palate like mine I need more exotic and exciting cuisines like venison, partridge and such”. So <strong>for me it was fun </strong>thinking of different things to feed him, be it in Burmese, Indian, Malaysian style or any other preparations.</p>
<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-5271" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/09/pic11.png" alt="pic1" width="209" height="286" />One day at the age of 24, for spiritual reasons, he decided to become vegetarian, a strict vegetarian forgoing eggs, gelatin or any food item containing animal products. <strong>That was a very challenging time for me</strong>, I still wanted him to enjoy the variety of food that he was used to, but at the same time I had to make sure that the food did not have any animal products. <strong>I learnt to read labels in all the food items I bought</strong> and I realized that a lot of chocolate had lecithin, biscuits had egg white and a lot of food had gelatin.</p>
<h4>Baby Steps: Experimenting With Ingredients</h4>
<p>I started to<strong> experiment with different types of food and learnt to cook food free of animal products.</strong></p>
<p>When I went to live in Australia, I would visit the markets, pick an assortment of vegetables that I was unfamiliar with and experiment. At the end of the day I was always rewarded with “That was tasty Mum”.</p>
<p>To add to this challenge very soon I was faced with yet another. My husband, a doctor began to take a keen and serious interest in healthy living and wellness. Although we had always cooked food I thought of as healthy, it now dawned on me that <strong>healthy food could be prepared without compromising taste and variety.</strong></p>
<p>My second son Anil soon became a willing convert to a healthy lifestyle. Accordingly his food preferences changed. I ensured the food laid out on the table met with these high standards of nutrition, variety and taste. This was another phase in my life where I started to pay more attention to ingredients, method and flavor. I wanted the food to be exciting, interesting, tasty yet healthy. I discovered that<strong> all I needed was a little imagination, time, a little effort and love and the food was enjoyed by all</strong>. I hope that my youngest son Rakesh will follow the path of healthy living, wellness and longevity by adopting these ideas.</p>
<h4>Vegetarianism, Taking The World By Storm</h4>
<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-5272" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/09/pic4.png" alt="pic4" width="272" height="193" />Globally, <strong>vegetarianism is on the rise, no longer exclusive to parts of Asia and the Indian subcontinent</strong>. This ‘green’ revolution has taken place subtly over decades and continues to gather momentum, its pace quickening into the 21st century.</p>
<p>Today the growth of<strong> vegetarianism is a matter of choice, primarily a decision based on health</strong>. Health researchers have long advocated a reduction in the consumption of meat with many going so far as to recommend a complete cessation of meat. It is widely accepted that there are a host of health benefits associated with meat reduction. Amongst these benefits are a <strong>reduction in cholesterol levels and consequently heart disease, reduction in blood pressure levels and <span style="text-decoration: underline">reduced risk of cancer and diabetes</span></strong>. While these are just some of the more published benefits there are many others.</p>

<h4>Save The Vegetable, Save The World: The Environmental Benefits Of Crops</h4>
<p>In terms of sustainability, the <strong>amount of land that we need to clear to grow vegetables is so much less than what is required to raise cattle.</strong></p>
<p>Whereas a field of crops could feed a small village, the same field used to graze cattle could maybe only feed a fraction of that. What’s more, you have to consider the potential food that is wasted as you have to grow feed for the cattle to eat.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000"><strong>Did you know the </strong><strong>total amount of grain that is consumed just to raise animals for food is enough to feed the less fortunate of this world?</strong></span></p>
<p>Secondly, you don’t have as big a carbon footprint when you choose not to contribute to the resource depletion that is caused through the slaughtering of animals for food. It is becoming increasingly popular to choose to become a vegetarian because people object to the harsh treatment of animals that are slaughtered for food.</p>

<h4>How Eating Vegetables Can Help You Live Longer</h4>
<p>It has been documented that people who eat an entirely vegetarian diet, or for <strong>those who eat more vegetables have been shown to live an average of 10 – 15 years longer </strong>than those who do otherwise.</p>
<p>Additionally, the National Cancer Institute estimates that <span style="color: #000000"><strong>roughly one third of all cancer deaths may be diet-related.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000"><strong>Vegetables have been shown to:</strong></span></p>

<p>I feel we really need to take care of our bodies’ right from the beginning. Your body is like your home, <strong>the house that you live in.</strong></p>
<p>If you build your house with good cement, bricks and mortar, it will stand strong for a long time. Similarly, whatever we put in our bodies, our bodies will become. <strong>All the health gurus are singing by the same tune, in that you need to increase your intake of fruit and vegetables.</strong></p>

<p><span style="color: #ff0000"><strong>When you choose to eat a vegetarian diet, you choose life</strong></span> - as nothing needs to die for you to get your meal. The amount of cattle that is slaughtered every month is astounding; <strong>at 4.12 billion pounds in the month of July!</strong></p>
<p>In the bigger scheme of things, we’re only on this Earth for a short time and during this time, <strong>what do you want to be remembered by?</strong></p>
<h4>One Day May Be All You Need To Change Your Life</h4>
<p>The question that is asked of me the most often is:</p>
<p><em><strong>“Is vegetarian food hard to prepare and how do I start implementing it into my life?”</strong></em></p>
<p>My answer is always the same in that <strong></strong>vegetarian food is not difficult to prepare, <strong>it takes less time than meat dishes as meat requires more time to cook through, and you can have <span style="text-decoration: underline">a full meal ready in less than 5 minutes</span></strong>.</p>
<p>And for those who need some help in implementing more vegetables in your diet, try the following <strong>1 day meal plan</strong>, it’s easy to follow yet wonderful for your body:</p>
<h3>BREAKFAST</h3>
<p>•    <strong>1 glass of fresh juice</strong>: Any type will do, but try and add some vegetables such as celery or cucumbers blended in with your fruit juice as well.<br />
•    <strong>1 bowl of cereal: </strong>Add berries or nuts into your cereal to give it a healthy kick. Use multigrain cereal for added goodness.<br />
•    <strong>1 serving of papaya or banana</strong></p>
<h3>LUNCH</h3>
<p>•    <strong>1 small bowl of fruits:</strong> A small bowl of apple cubes or pears before your lunch would be ideal<br />
•    <strong>1 serving of salad with your normal meal</strong>: If you like eating pasta for lunch, try a wholegrain pasta with a side of salad. Reduce the serving size of the pasta to accommodate the added vegetables.</p>
<h3>DINNER</h3>
<p>•    Try the simple recipe below from my cook book Vegemania! (page 118)</p>
<h5>Zesty Peppers &amp; Garbanzo Beans</h5>
<p><em>Garbanzo beans or chickpeas are the most widely consumed legumes in the world.</em></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline">Ingredients</span></p>
<ul>
<li> 1 can garbanzo beans/ chickpeas</li>
<li>1 can kidney beans, rinsed and drained</li>
<li>2 stalks celery, cut into small pieces</li>
<li>1 medium red and green bell pepper/ capsicum each cut into small pieces</li>
<li>1 red onion, sliced</li>
<li>1 tsp garlic, minced</li>
<li>2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped</li>
<li>Juice of one lemon, or to taste</li>
<li>2 tsp freshly ground black pepper, or to taste</li>
<li>1 tsp ground cumin</li>
<li>2 tbsp apple cider vinegar</li>
<li>1 tbsp olive oil</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline">Method</span></p>
<ol>
<li> Chill the serving plates to keep your salad crisp longer</li>
<li>In a large mixing bowl, combine the beans, celery, peppers and onion</li>
<li>In a separate bowl, mix together the rest of the ingredients and pour over the bean and pepper mixture</li>
<li>Stir to combine and chill to serve</li>
<li>Optional garnishes: tomato-, cucumber.- and lemon wedges</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>Preperation time: less than 10 minutes!</strong></p>
<h4>The New Millenium of Wellness</h4>
<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-5274" src="http://daily.finerminds.com/files/2009/09/pic2.png" alt="pic2" width="224" height="304" />In this new millennium, the key words must be wellness and healthy ageing. <strong>The population all over the world is ageing</strong> and more and more people are celebrating their hundredth birthday. However studies have shown that not all these people are ageing well.</p>
<p>The populations with <strong>the highest expectancy and longevity are those found in the Mediterranean and Okinawa, Japan. </strong>What is their secret? In the Okinawa study, it showed that it was the rich diet of fruits and vegetables that helped promote longevity. All current research has proven that <strong>persons with a rich diet of fruits and vegetables live longer and suffer less from chronic disease and disability.</strong></p>

<p>I’ve always said to my family and friends,<strong> ‘your fate is on your plate’</strong> which to me delves straight to the problem yet highlights the solution all at the same time. It really is as simple as that, but you have to make the conscious decision for change…</p>
