Who Needs Friends? You Do, If You Want To Be Healthy

by Gabrielle Lim0

We focus so much on our well-being that sometimes we become a little selfish. We work on self-improvement, healing ourselves, and increasing our wealth that we sometimes forget about our friends.

Studies have shown that the key to a healthy and long life may be in our friends and social interactions. One 10-year study done in Australia really drove home the point.

"A 10-year Australian study found that older people with a large circle of friends were 22 percent less likely to die during the study period than those with fewer friends."

Looks like I better start calling up some old acquaintances.  But it's not just our physical health.  Having friends is like having a huge support group ready to hold our hand and walk us through any challenge that comes our way.

No, The Law Of Attraction Won’t Force Someone To Love you

by Gabrielle Lim6

Unrequited loveWe hear about the Law of Attraction almost everywhere nowadays.  And yes it's amazing but it's definitely not a free pass at life. You still have to work hard, nail the opportunities that come by you, and stay focused.

The Law of Attraction is not a magic wand or some sort of voodoo that you can use to bend people to your will.  Nor will it magically make a million dollars in cold hard cash appear before you while you sit at home, watching TV, eating chips.

I found this article that outlines the basic WON'Ts of the Law of Attraction.  It gives 10 things the Law of Attraction won't do for you or anyone else.

Remember, above all else, that each and every one of us may have amazing and unlimited power but it only pertains to ourselves.

Before you share your comments and stories with us, I want you to think about these three things when using the Law of Attraction:

  • Are you doing this solely for yourself or for someone else?
  • If you are trying to attract more wealth, for what reason is it?  (a bigger house, a new car, a family vacation, etc.)
  • Are there any negative implications at all for what you want to manifest?

7 Step Recipe To Turn Your Dreams Into Reality

by Gabrielle Lim0

blog1Okay, so you've set your goal (mine is to go to the gym 4 to 5 times a week, wish me luck) and now what.  This isn't school anymore.  There's no teacher breathing down your neck, threatening you with punishments if you don't finish your assignment.

So what can we do to stop our passion from dying out? I found this article that outlines the 7 steps we need to take to hold ourself accountable and accomplish our goal.

Sometimes we just need to have that grade school teacher telling us what to do and since that's not possible (unless you've got a personal trainer or life coach) I like to remind myself of what needs to be done with these 7 steps. Read More…

Neuro-Linguistic Programing – It’s Really Not As Scary As It Sounds

by Gabrielle Lim12

NLPI found this really cool exercise on NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) the other day.  It's a step by step guide to help you create a belief that will open your life up to more options and opportunity.

This is a pretty basic guide and there's a lot more to NLP, but have a look.  It's also a great way to meditate and break the bonds of negative thinking.

Play Time’s NOT Over: The Importance Of Recess

by Gabrielle Lim0

Play TimeEven though we're all grown up now, I think we can still appreciate the importance of recess.  I still cherish the short breaks from work where I can surf the net, read a book, grab a coffee, or catch up with a coworker.  You can say that our breaks are really our recesses.

And if someone told you that you weren't allowed to go on your break, I'm pretty sure you'd throw a fit.  First because it's illegal and second because it's necessary for our health and well being.

So, why is it that there are still schools in the U.S. that don't have recess for the students?

Desired Things

by Gabrielle Lim1

picture-12I would have to say that this is in my list of top 5 favorite poems.   I'm talking about Desiderata by Max Ehrmann.  There's been some myth surrounding this poem but regardless of its history, Ehrmann nailed it.

On days where I'm going through a bout of self doubt or anxiety, I like to go over this poem.  It's a gentle reminder of the wonders life offers and how much I really have to be grateful for.

It's not a very long poem, but its simplicity only makes the words more striking.

The following two stanzas are my favorite and if we all took a line or two from it, I'm sure there'd be a lot more tolerance and love going around.
